I haven't heard of her before but she does sound fascinating.  Thanks for putting another interesting book title into my already full-to-overflowing hopper of things to read!  I have often made the comment that I pray my eyes will be good until the very end of my life because there are always wonderful books out there to learn from!

LOL Barb!  I'm right there with you!  I have an ever growing stack of books waiting for me to get to them!  This one is a totally different style from Same Kind of Different as Me, more scholarly, more of a history.  She was quite the woman, and once you meet her, you will likely find yourself talking about her to others!

Jerry, how are you?  I have missed you, and your family has been in my prayers.  This is a great book for a pastor's library, and it is filled with plenty of sermon inspiration and illustrations!

I hope you'll both share your thoughts with me after reading!  God bless you both!

Cool,
We need to remember how involved the Christian Women were in these movements, it should make us also be involved. I had a Great-Great Aunt Alice Barnard who was the first woman principal of a Chicago HS in 1890( it took so long because she held out for equal pay!). These were not shy women, and they were involved because they never seperated their faith from their life and livelihood.

Amen, Dennis!  Reading about the lives of strong Christian men and women of the past can stretch and inspire us to better Christian service.  This one particularly inspires and motivates me, as would likely the story of your great-great-aunt Alice!
