THE GREATNESS OF GOD

Psalm 135

¹    Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD.

²    Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,

³    Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

⁴    For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

⁵    For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

⁶    Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

⁷    He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

⁸    Who smote the firstborn of Egypt , both of man and beast.

⁹    Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

¹⁰    Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;

¹¹    Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan :

¹²    And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

¹³    Thy name, O LORD, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

¹⁴    For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.

¹⁵    The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

¹⁶    They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

¹⁷    They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

¹⁸    They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.

¹⁹    Bless the LORD, O house of Israel : bless the LORD, O house of Aaron:

²⁰    Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD.

²¹    Blessed be the LORD out of Zion , which dwelleth at Jerusalem . Praise ye the LORD.

Because of the greatness of God, we need to agree with the Psalmist to praise God.

When you hear of something great, it means it is something so valuable.  As we meditate

 on the greatness of God, we would be forced to praise Him and lift Him high. 

Until we acknowledge the greatness of God, we can’t see anything great happening in our

own lives.  But as soon as we acknowledge God’s greatness, we are moved into praising

Him.  So, as you read this, I want you to forget about your odd situation and begin to

praise Him.  Miracles show up in our lives as we forget about our situations and give God

praise in the midst of it.  Johoshaphat did same thing when the children of Moab and

Ammon came against him and his people. The only song they sung to God was “ Praise

 the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.  The Bible records that they

worn the battle against their enemies.

We want to look at the power behind praising and acknowledging greatness of God.

 How important and how big God is.   How His greatness can help you overcome

every situation and circumstances you are going through right now in your life. 

We can only come into the presence of God after acknowledging His greatness.

We praise the Lord because He is good.  Verse 2 says you who minister in the house of

God.  So as servants of God, we need to praise the Lord.  A minister is somebody who

serves.  So, if we want the greatness of God to affect our lives, we need to humble

ourselves just to experience this greatness of His.  Scripture says as many as believe Him,

 He gave them the power to be called the children of God.  It is He who makes us great as

we meditate upon His greatness or His bigness.  Just think about the universe, waters,

trees, the sun and the moon.

God’s Word has a volume that a small measure of it can make you great.  So this is the

 time that you need to meditate on His greatness.  We need to meditate on the

greatness of God any moment, any hour and any day.

If we see God as the highest in our lives, we would see our lives moving on high.  As we

meditate on the greatness of God, our troubles would be over.

Somebody called me one day asking me what he can do to help the work of God.  So are

 we all supposed to act as we acknowledge the greatness of God.  We would come to the

 point where we would see the importance of promoting His Kingdom activities. 

Even worldly people help to promote worldly programmes.  Why not believers do the

same?  But we can be willing to support Kingdom activities only after knowing that God

is a big God who deserves everything of ours.

We all need to support the work of God through paying tithes, sowing seeds and so on in

whatever ministry we find ourselves in.  Jesus Himself “says I must work the work of

Him who sends me whilst it is still day.”  As we help the work of God, we are equally

working the work of Him who sends us.

In short, let us honour or praise the Lord with everything of ours, including our finance.

Begin right now to picture the greatness of God and act accordingly.  You would be made

great shortly.

Finally, if you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, you cannot not even come to the

point of acknowledging God’s greatness.  So right now, I want you to say this prayer

after me.  As follows;

Heavenly Father, thank you for given me your only son Jesus Christ to die for my sins

 and to rise up by your Glory for my justification.

Right now I receive the remission of sins, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Personal

saviour. 

Thank you Heavenly Father for making me born again this day. In Jesus Name. Amen!
