I just noticed the verse that MyChurch had posted today, and I thought it tied in really well with the Ash Wednesday blog I wrote earlier today. 25:6 Be mindful of thy mercy, O LORD, and of thy steadfast love, for they have been from of old. 25:7 Remember not the sins of my youth, or my transgressions; according to thy steadfast love remember me, for thy goodness' sake, O LORD! Oh, if only it were so easy to forget the sins of my youth! But part of the Christian message is that God does forget them. We observe Lent, not because God is so mean, but precisely because is he is so merciful. We cry for his forgiveness, and he responds with the Good News that we already have been forgiven by his saving grace through Jesus Christ. This is the center of the Gospel. That's something good to remember as we make our Lenten journey.
