| Exalted in due time |

In 1 Peter 5, the author writes instructions to the churches that read his letter. To the elders he gives instructions to lead, not because they must, but because they want to and to lead by example. To young people, he gives the reminder that God opposes those who are proud, but gives grace to those who are humble. To that he adds verse 6; "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you." I don't see too many humble people in churches today. I see people that are proud of their heritage, proud of their contributions, and all too willing to campaign for offices within the church. Wouldn't it be better to wait and let God call us to office within the church? Rather than exalting ourselves, let God exalt us. Otherwise, we may just wind up being one of the proud whom God opposses, and none of us wants that! 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you. |
