I'm really excited about this. (If you don't already know, click on the highlighted and underlined items to see what they're about.)
It's really funny how God just does things in his own time. Like Sam said in one of his sermons on Exodus...God is always on time--he's never late but he's also never early.
I've waited and waited for some kind of opportunity to arrive that would allow me to step into the freelance writing world. I need to be able to work from home and I love to write. The only problem with freelance is that you have to be published to be printed. Put you can't get published unless you've been in print...see the cunundrum? I've registered with several freelance writing websites, but without a credible portfolio, no one wanted to take a chance on my writing skills.
I didn't know about little papers like the Marysvilel Globe or the North County Outlook until just recently, or that they occasionally take volunteer writers as columnists if they have expertise in a specific subject and the ability to write. It wasn't until Ayla announced on Facebook that she was the new fitness columnist that I saw the NCO's request for new columnists.
So here I am, with two credible writing gigs under my belt. (I include the Spectacle in that a well.) The fact that they are volunteer doesn't matter...once I'm published a few times in the NCO, I will have a portfolio built to then query national magazines and write for them.
Which, indedentaly, would be a paying gig that I could do from home.
27:14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the LORD!
