A group of our Trenton MISSIONARY Baptist Church men met early Saturday morning at Garage Bay One behind the Baptist Life Center's Fellowship Hall. They noisily loaded lumber and hardware onto trucks unknowingly waking Tish Rich, her family and others who had spent the whole night baking bread for the Youth on a Mission Fund raiser.
Tish said it was REAL early, but I heard that it was, like, 7:30. Still it seemed even earlier than that to the ones who had been on a mission to raise money for Youth on a Mission. Tish and the others really didn't mind because the Mighty Men of the Church were on a Mission of their own. They were doing what was just and right (see reference below) and acceptable to the LORD.
One man had seen the need of an elderly couple and wanted to respond to that need. He shared his concern with the church and soon there was enough man power and donated materials to get the job done.
Over a half dozen men were mildly sunburned Saturday as they labored together to meet the needs of a couple of our neighbors. Rain and ice had made a simple descent from the house to the car a treacherous affair, but by three o'clock on Saturday afternoon a new shelter had been constructed to cover a ramp, concrete parking pad and car.

Oblivious to what can be accomplished when the hearts and minds of a few good men submit to God's calling, drivers zip back and forth up and down Hwy 41 between Trenton and locations such as Comfort, Hargett's, Richlands, Beaulaville and Wallace. Even those among us who travel the road daily could easily overlook the new, simple shelter overhanging a ramp, a concrete pad and a car. Yet I believe there's a couple on route 41 who will step out of their house and look up at the new lumber and shiny tin that now shelters them from the weather and they will breathe a sigh of relief, and they will know that there is a God at work in their world and they will feel His Love and they will know He is Real. Amen.
21:3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. |
