Redeeming the time because the days are evil! This is actually my first real blog on this website the others have been recycled from my MY CHURCH site.I guess I should take that out now since this is MYCHURCH. I'll go ahead and tell you I'm sure nothing you read here will strike you as brilliant but this one thing I promise it will be "From the Heart" www.fromtheheart-timothy.blogspot.com and will align with the Word of God. And hopefully will be something you can apply to your walk with the Lord Jesus and allow you to draw closer to Him.
Lately I can't get away from the thought that we are wasting most of our time. We have time to do so many things but when it comes to spending time in prayer, studying the Word of God, or sharing the Good News we can't find the time. Our culture today, well I'll say it this way Satan has so influenced our way of life for too long without us standing up and saying something, about it. Basically we are allowing satan to arrange our life so we have time to do everything other than God-things.
Satan comes to us not in a red suit and pitchfork but he will come to you in many other REAL ways. Temptations, lustful thoughts or evil desires but those aren't really what i want to talk about. The Bible tells us to not be ignorant of the devices of Satan. I want to make you aware through this post that the device Satan is using on believers and non-believers is he is giving you so many things to do that at the end of the day you haven't prayed, read your Bible or even thought about God because you have been so busy doing things. I'm not going to try to list what these things are they are different for everyone. I pray as you read this God will begin to reveal to you the things you could spend less time doing so you could have more time with the Father of Glory, Jesus Christ. Let's go to the Word of God for a moment.
Ephesians 5:14-17 (New King James Version) 14 Therefore He says: “ Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead,And Christ will give you light." 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
There are many things to learn from this passage but I'll only deal with a few. The first is to WAKE UP!!!!!!WAKE UP!!!!!! This passage goes as far as calling you not only sleeping Christians but dead Christians. I believe the reason we are dead is because we fail to spend time with the One Who is the Source of all Life. Jesus is what the way the truth and the life.(John 14:6) We are dead because everything we are doing is draining us of our energy rather than giving us what we need to live.
The second thing this passage says is to walk circumspectly meaning you should carefully watch how you live your life. Wake up and watch how your spending your time. Don't be foolish with the time God has given you. Yes God has given you every second you have on this earth so you should spend intimate time with Him in prayer and studying the Word of God.
Here's the kicker Redeeming the time because the days are evil. Redeem means to buy back we can't buy back any time we've wasted already but we can begin right now making the most of every opportunity we have to spend with God. Every chance you get no let me say it like this we should begin making time to witness to others, pray, and study the Word of God. We need to rearrange our lives for the Lord. The days are evil satan is on a rampage trying to steal, kill and destroy your life. You can begin to experience the abundant life Jesus wants to give if you begin spending time with Him now don't put if off for tommorow make time right now.
Finally this passage says to not be unwise but to understand the will of the Lord. We wrestle with what the will of God is so much. If we will begin to obey this passage from the Word of God. God will begin to reveal to us exactly what the will of God is in other areas of our life. So begin right now spending time with your Heavenly Father he loves you and cares so much about you. I know He would love to hear from you. Open up the Word of God, cry out to him in prayer or just sit there and think about how awesome of a God he is. May God Bless you in Jesus name. |
