Thanks Doyle, you're such a great brother! Regarding your questions;

I don't eat corn-beef and cabbage! I am only wearing green today b/c someone in my office threatened me (playfully). And I too would like to know where my pot of gold is!!! lol

St Patrick had a really weird name he was born with. He was British, not Irish. He was Orthodox, not Catholic. He brought Christianity to Ireland.  He used a clover to illustrate a triune God, hense the clovers.  The beer thing and getting drunk is a total contradiction and corruption to what St Patrick's day stands for.

hehe I just posted a blog on this. Laura that's too funny this was my commentary on the article;

This is a brief description of who St. Patrick truly was, 1st of all I'd like to point out he was NOT Catholic, he was Orthodox!  He was also British not Irish. What is less well-known is that Patrick was a humble missionary (this saint regularly referred to himself as "a sinner") of enormous courage.Patrick, the teacher who used the shamrock to explain the Trinity. When he evangelized Ireland, he set in motion a series of events that impacted all of Europe. It all started when he was carried off into slavery.

and this was my ending statement;

So I ask again, Where did we get the idea that we should celebrate St. Patrick's day by getting drunk???? That is such a contradiction as to what St. Patrick's day is all about....Why do we distort Holy holidays????

Oh here is another question if St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Trinity, why then is a 4 leaf clover considered "lucky" hmmmmm

Sad news on the morning show St. Patrick it was affirmed an A British lad stolen away from home brougt up and sent to school in Rome a priest he became and asked to serve the pagans of Ireland Who were known for their drink and fornicating which the patrician came to chase away a stubborn people are we we might except his God but we keep our drink -- a wee bit -- and our women we now marry and joyously frolly with,
My Father was born on this day when I was small his eyes were clear blue sported a beard of red and a very blond head of hair. Me well my eyes are a mystery in youth they would change as to my mood green with envy or black with furry blue when sad and brown when mad hazel they be these days a bit more green perhaps a bit of envy of those who have chosen Christ and made their way home while I chose him I AM still Left behind to try to spread the very great news Jesus Saves and what ever is at the end of the Rainbow can not compare to the home he has waiting in his fathers house with streets of Gold so pure you can see through it as if of Glass and all 12 precious stones are its foundations and the gates ate of Giant pearls Don't you want to give up on luck and except a sure thing That is what Jesus Loved and Died and rose up for and he is coming back again. Will you be ready when he does?

Sorry but I was not enthusiastic about Saint Patricks day.
It became a holiday to honor one of the Catholic saints.
He was probably a really good person. To bad people don't take time to find out
about these holidays.
I like to know the history behind holidays. I just need to know what I'm really
celebrating, if I'm going to be a partaker at all.
Thanks and Gods truth be told.

sis Cece, "Saint Patrick" wasn't Catholic.  I researched the holiday after I got born again to find out more for the very reason you mentioned.  :)

I Know that this is a bit after the event but living here in Northern Ireland I agree with some of the things written
Patrick was living between England and Wales was taken into slavery and was a shepherd  There is a lot of folklore about him as is with all the Saints. He did not rid Ireland of snakes and yes we don't have any lucky us
and the Irish have a serious hobby in drinking and any excuse to start lol
