³⁷ “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

The same could be said for our nation and our churches and yes even our personal lives.  How God longs to gather us together and place us under His protective, sheltering, and comforting wings but we will not have any part of it.  When God's people forsake Him and resist His attempts to reconcile with them it breaks His heart.

You can call it judgment, or you can call it consequences for our actions, but the fact of the matter is that God's Spirit will not always strive with man, He is not willing that any should perish but God is always willing that man should come to repentance.  He always stands ready to receive the prodigal the wayward person, the wayward church, the wayward nation back home but I wonder if our hearts are soft enough to receive His invitation?

As Jesus wept over the spiritual condition of His nation I weep over mine.  It is high time to awake out of sleep and our slumber and redeem the time for the days are evil.  It is almost mid-night and the fields are white unto harvest but the laborers are few.  We must work while it is day, for there is coming a time when no man can work. I sense in my spirit that it won't be long before we are caught up in the air to meet Him but in the mean time are you ready?  Are you faithful?  Are you prepared?  Will the owner of the vineyard come to find you faithful or not? 

Oh, God's children, His people, ..........how He longs to gather us together as a hen gathers her babies under her wings...will you let Him today or will you resist?
