To add a comment to "Jesus Cured Me! He Can Cure You Too!"

There is just one danger of this message...if someone is NOT cured through their faith, it can cause them to LOSE their faith...to turn away from Christ.  That's not the intended outcome, but it could happen, if people come to Christ simply to 'make life better'.

Faithful believers still die of cancer - but they must remember that they will have eternity with God.  They must remember that, perhaps it was their time.  That the pain and suffering of this world were not SENT by God, but the result of sin in this world, and not necessarily THEIR sins (in other words, the cancer or something is not punishment, but a byproduct of the sinful world that we all live in).

I am happy and praise God that you found healing through Christ - I have too - but I just tread lightly when I talk about this.

God Bless!

If that would cause them to TURN away from Christ I would submit they were never turned toward him, Growing. I would rather see the church "error" in terms of faith than nonfaith, wouldn't you?

I just love this:

"The world needs the healing touch of Christ and you and I have been chosen to bring the power of God’s love to the entire world. We must seek out the sick, the weak, and the lost. We must not sit on our hands hoping that they will come to us, rather we should extend our arms like a ray of light cutting through the darkness and with great confidence take to the streets of the world healing all manners of sickness and pain. "

Thank you for reminding me of our mission!

Patrick, great message of hope! I enjoyed reading this, and especially like how you model the relationship we all crave with our Creator. God bless! ~mike

Recon - that's my point.  If they come to Christ simply because they think that "now I'm a Christian, I won't get sick and I will have a happy life', they are coming for the wrong reason.  One shouldn't come to Christ for fixes in THIS world, but to guarantee that they do not face the wrath of God at Judgement and the second death.

My point is that reaching out to people who aren't saved by saying that it will 'cure' all woes is not a good way to keep people in the church, because the first BAD thing they experience they'll question why God let it happen, and maybe resent God for 'letting' something bad happen to them, a believer.

But they are believing for the wrong reasons.  It's why so many people today turn to things like "Kabbalah (sp?) and Eastern Religions - they look at it as some sort of 'self help' 'life management tool', something to make life EASIER or BETTER.

Becoming Christian for that, and not through accepting Christ's sacrifice for our salvation, something we couldn't obtain on our own, isn't right.

Can we still be cured through our faith?  Sure!  If it is God's will.  But to assume we know His will and question when things don't go 'happily along' means we don't understand...

Yeah, I'm longwinded sometimes, but I just bring it up because I've seen too many people think this way and throw off the idea of being Christian because they were 'sold on it' the wrong way.

My point Growing is that either they believe or don't, period. Either one gets born again or doesn't! I'm not talking about greasy-grace or sloppy agape but what I see in most Christians I know is a great reticence to enter into this area of healing. Yes, there are some on TV that go through the hocus-pocus but I'm talking about praying for people directly in person and laying on of hands and annointing of oil by elders and following scripture with regards to healing.

Jesus and the disciples intimately did all of it, preaching, healing, casting out demons, etc. It was all a seamless whole. I see no indications from scripture why that should not still be the NORM.

We're on the same page.  I like your terms "greasy grace" and "sloppy agape"....the hocus-pocus stuff.

Growing I agree with you, thats why I Iam quick to say that the healing you recieve may be spiritual, you may still die of cancer, but your soul is healed, and cleansed and you can face death with no fear.

Yes, I agree with the idea that the church is "sent" to "seek," and I agree with the point about preaching, healing, etc. being part of a "seamless whole." All of this is centered in Jesus:

53:4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes we are healed. 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Also, those who have believed, been healed, etc., have been "enlightened," "tasted the heavenly gift," "shared in the Holy Spirit" and "tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come." (Hebrews 6:4-5) We won't fully experience perfection in this age (e.g., we may still die), but we do have foretastes, and the church should be giving them out freely to the world. Hopefully, her message will be clear and her ministry will be pure so that people will have hope not only in this age but in the age to come.

I agree! We are called to pray without siecing, for favor, for help, for adoration, for provision, and for healing. How God chooses to answer our prayer is not up to us. We are simply called to pray. In the same way as acting out of faith. We are not responsible for the results of our obedience, we are simply responsible for acting out our faith in obedience to God. Regardless of the outcome, if we're being obedient, God's will will be done.
