| The Church Being the Church |

Last night I was teaching my Wednesday night group at Faith. The whole point of the lesson was that Jesus came down off the mountain after the "Sermon on the Mount" to begin to apply all the truths He had been teaching.
As a pastor sometimes I feel the church knows more than it does. We are ever learning but not putting it into practice. Then I found out something that really encouraged me. While I was teaching my class at the church the King's Couples were over at Lanelle Griffith's house weeding her yard. Lanelle is one of our shut-ins who used to weed the flowers beds at Faith. So 18 of our people were weeding while I was talking about putting truth into action. Cool huh?
Then I remembered the many of our folks who were involved in TeenWeek. Many of our folks were down at the local school working with over 100 teens. Emory Hinkle who is 60+ :) was listening to verses. Once again I was teaching and they were reaching. Is this cool or what?
This is the church at its best, when we take the truth God teaches us and apply it to life. REAL life. So Faith Baptist was all over Alleghany County last night. It was the church being the church. |
