I will write briefly of the tenacious, relentless character of love. Real love wants to do what is necessary to please the beloved, regardless of the cost. Our Beloved calls out to us, "Place me as a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like a blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned" (Song of Songs 8:6-7).
The law reveals our failings and our need for a Savior; Grace reveals His love in spite of our failings.
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me."
Love your neighbor as yourself = Love your Savior as yourself.
Heavenly Father, teach me to love as You love; Make me Your Hands, Your Mouth, Your Heart towards those I encounter today. Help me to bring Your Word of Hope to a lost and dying world. Amen.
13:9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this sentence, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
