In the begining of these verses, you might read it and think, "Well...i've never killed someone, or had sex with someones spouse, or robbed a bank or something, so this must not apply to me." The things listed are: A theif...An adulterer...A murderer. But once a famous evangilist asked a man who believed he had never broken any of the 10 Commandments, "Have you ever looked at a woman with lust?" The man replied yes. "Have you ever taken something that wasn't yours?" Again the man said yes. "Have you ever harmed someone with your words?" For the 3rd time the man responded yes. "Then, sir, you are a murdering, stealing, adulterer." These things apply to EVERYONES life. Directly, or indirectly. What i think is interesting is that this verse is summed up with "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." When I looked back the the bigining, i noticed they are all things you do directly to a person. So breaking any of those commandments, no matter how small, is breaking one of the most important laws. This is what i want to leave you with: Love unconitionaly.Becuase love is a journey, not a destination. It takes time, especially if they have hurt you along the way. And you can't do it on your own, you have to allow God to work thru you. So guys, let God's love shine through you today. 13:9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this sentence, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." |
