| Biblical Questions #3 Question About Being Unequally Yoked |
|

6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? When The Word speaks of being unequally yoked does that statement refer to married people? What does the bible say regarding this issue? |

Think of it this way, unequally yoked...........
Some things in the world about us just don't mix. Oil and water, for example. Their unique and individual molecular structures and properties are such that they simply do not meld naturally into one. Yes, men can manipulate the various components of matter so as to impose a forced fusion, but such is unnatural and unstable. In time, nature will inevitably correct itself. The cute little kitten and the dog look precious together, but they were never intended to be mates. Indeed, nature will not allow feline-canine cross-breeding. They just don't "mix." Men were never intended to mate with other men, nor women with women. It is "against nature" (Romans 1:26). Man's "suitable companion," by divine design, is woman. Some people seek to "fool God's plan for us," but their efforts are as contrary to God's will as a dog mating with a cat.
This is also true for other vital relationships in life. The apostle Paul wrote the saints in Corinth, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Cor. 6:14, KJV).
It is the duty of Christian parents to rear their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. How can one do this when the other sets the example of unbelief and disobedience to God? This passage certainly forbids persons tying themselves to unbelievers in any business or any relation by which the believer is influenced or controlled by the unbeliever. How can a relationship be found that does this more effectually than the marriage relation?"
And I will go one step further as far as relationships, we must seek counsel before we marry so we may know what our roles will be in our lives, Wife, mother, daughter, friend, self. Who are you and what is your role in your family, always a need but how will you fill it? Good Godly cousel will be help you make the transistions in your life. God bless you! I know there is a blog in here..................

| you look at yoke of oxen, and they are a team, and so are married couples, so it would defintely include your bf/gf spouse, etc. The Bible says that, say one of the two got saved (AFTER they were already married), then if the unbelieving spouse is happy to stay, than let them b/c then the children are considered holy....and if the spouse leaves, the believer is not under bondage in such cases....and that if anyone marries, let it be IN THE LORD which would def mean another believer. Paul was speaking from his own mouth, not as concession in much of this, but he had the Spirit of God, so he knew what he was talking about! It's hard enough when you got a believing spouse! It's like Solomon and his pagan wives...they drew his heart away from the Lord, and so it can be the same with us. |

Okay - Here is what the scriptures say regarding this topic:
10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
16:18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from [her] husband committeth adultery.
7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
