My problem is that I get lazy! I know that when I spend time with Jesus my day goes better! I just need to shake off the cobwebs and get back to my quit time!

Prayer isn't the basics of Christianity.  We will find that we won't do it or it will be death to us if we don't understanding who we are in Him and He in us to some extent.  Prayer meetings that focus on lists of needs generally become death and no one wants to go.  It's like getting out of the boat [e.g. Peter walking on the water] and then focusing on the wind and waves [problems, distractions, and circumstances].

In my experience it's really hard to find a prayer meeting that actually focuses on God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  In those there is more thanksgiving than begging.  :-)

Love you all!
Craig

It is time for mature saints of God to move beyond praying one hour a day. When you're first saved, it's good to start with fifteen minutes or so of prayer a day, but once you arrive at the time when you should be eating meat, you need to increase the time you spend with the Father.

One way to pray continuously is to pray throughout the day. Pray in your car, pray under your breath at your job, pray in the bathroom, pray in your head, etc.

The bible say to pray without ceasing. And yes, I am tired of the prayer meetings where it's gloom, despair, and agony on me..............give me, give me, give me......... Where's the thanksgiving for waht he's already done? Want to see more? How bout some thankin first. Hey, I'm talking to myself

I find that I talk to God consistently, constantly as I go through my day. While doing dishes, walking down the street (looking at the blue sky, beautiful flower in bloom, etc.gives me to bring out thanks to Him - knowing my destination, I might pray that the Lord directs my going, & that I may respond accordingly with whomever I meet on the way..etc.) . // When I read the word, this often brings me into a spirit prayer place. I read a verse, and lift up a prayer as I take a moment of devotional thought to what I've just read. Sometimes that may be a second's thougth, till the next verse that arrests my attn. Or, it may result in my standing up and pacing prayerfully, crying out, or raising up Thank yous and Praise to Him, for perhaps a half hour.
I admit otherwise to being weak in devoting specific prayer times. May the Lord increase my fervor to the relinquish of my heart to pray in this way too. May the Lord stir a heart and mind that understands His will more accurately, and that is willing to submit in obedience to His call, no matter how I am 'feeling' at any given space of time.

Yes Denise, I used to talk to myself a lot, now I have decided instead of talking to myself, I can talk to God. I think it makes me look better around my kids too. Maybe they won't think I've quite lost it yet.

My personal prayer time is spent thoughout the day.  I do have a prayer time at night, however I pray all day long.  It may be in the car, in the office, kitchen, bathroom, etc.  Wherever, I give thanks to the one who keeps me sane and whole.

Hi everyone, I have found the best prayer meetings are do not accept prayer requests, but an opportunity to join others in prayer. The best intimate prayer meeting encourages attendees to quietly make their petitions in private by playing soft music and discouraging talking and discussion. The best 'corporate' prayer meetings are ones that are led by a prayer warrier in which the entire group is led to 'praise' and 'worship' God for a list of things we are grateful for, often with live music accompaniment.

It is my personal opinion that prayer lists are for personal use and should be shared only with the intercessory prayer team (the intimate core of your prayer group).

As for personal prayer time availability, I also agree that each of us needs to spend more quality time with God. However, I'm not sure that I think "prayer" should probably be expounded on so that it is understood that it is more than simply "talking". Meditation can be added to discussion as a form of prayer in that it serves at the "listening" part of a conversation.

In my personal prayer time, I spend less time talking and more time listening. I do this because I usually make my petitions throughout the day as they come to mind, so that when I have time to sit down and spend "quality time" I don't have to use it to go through my mundane list of needs and requests. Instead, I can use it to listen and focus on Him.

A prayerless saint is a powerless saint was a teaching I did a last summer and I haven't changed my thinking on this....all of us must pray without ceasing...love to you and blessings

David Wilkerson, Pastor of Times Square Church in New York was once quoted as saying any time of ministry is 80% prayer and 20% work. Sounds like he would have something to say on this too.
