Should I Hate The World?

Oh kay, what the heck? Why can't you love the world? Can someone please explain/ Makes no sense -stands on head-...Yeah, still not gettin it...-_-;

4:4 Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Princess, you are exactly right.  It is our job to love the world, meaning the people of this world.  This verse is refering to the world as anything that God would not be happy with.  For example, think about the way the world thinks these days.  Many people believe homosexuality is a good, natural thing; however, God did not create us with homosexual feelings, that is something that the world has made up.  So to believe and love the things of this world is like saying that God is wrong.  that is why it says whoever becomes a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God.  God also says to hate the sin but love the sinner, so understand that this verse is not telling you to not be friends with people of the world, but you are to not agree and like the sins of the world.  It is through love that we help bring people away from the beliefs of the "world" and closer to Jesus.  I hope this makes sense.  PC
