| Love is not Wasted |

In the morning my daughter always comes down to my bathroom and we get ready together. We put on our make-up, poof our hair, share our morning beverages and just talk. It is some of my favorite time with her. Any given morning both of us can go the gamut from laughing to crying, and usually do. In these moments she tells me her secrets, her desires and we usually spend time talking about how to handle life. I love that she chooses to spend this time with me. I was watching her this morning putting her eyes on and I was awe struck. My daughter to me is unusually beautiful from her soul out, she has such a heart for the Lord, she is pure and so innocent we both laugh at her blunders…she makes my heart melt. This was one of our typical mornings, but what was untypical to me this morning was that I could FEEL we were not alone. It was almost like my Jesus was sitting on the edge of my Jacuzzi watching us. I could feel the love in that bathroom. I felt so grateful in those moments…because I knew just from our conversation that God was repeating some patterns for her He so generously lavished on me… Lately, I have felt some regret over some of the decisions that I have made. Some of those decisions affected my children and that for me holds the most pain. As I felt that love pouring out in the middle of our morning routine I could just sense God saying to me…”Look what I am doing with our girl…”and I saw it and it was the redemptive restorative work of my Daddy…her Daddy. I am well acquainted with his intimate handiwork when it comes to fixing messes…As she was just chammering away now putting on her cheeks she had no idea that God was opening my eyes up to His workmanship in her life that had been so similar to His work in mine. No one can fix hearts, souls or messes better than THE CREATOR. A peace just flooded me that He was always going to care for our baby girl that He entrusted to me even through all the dung I have drug her through. Once her cheeks were done she just stopped and looked and me and flashed that huge smile that lights up some of the darkest brown eyes I have ever seen…My son walked in….”We have to go Allie it is 7” “Oh, I have to go get on my skirt” Off she went..and while my son messed up his messy hair and stood next to me to see if he was now a foot taller than I was I marveled at him too….there stood my 5’8” Lacrosse playing post-stroke baby…Look at what God can do…and I marveled that not a moment of love we give to those around us goes wasted…and as I heard my kids patter away on my hard wood floors a tear of joy slipped gently from my face…at my Jesus making my morning so sweet and all in the bathroom… |

This is beautiful Lori!
You have done such a good job mothering (and fathering) your children. I was so completely impressed with how well behaved and good hearted they are. They truly are blessings from the Father.
And that says a lot about you. You are a living example of a Proverbs 31 woman.

How old are your kids? This just reassures me even more. I remember hearing James Dobson saying something like the Lord makes up for our mistakes. Like if we mess up in some way with our kids (which we all will inevitably do), then He will make up for our lack. And this blog is just a beautiful picture of that. You had to have done something right, sister! Look at your kids! Thanks for sharing this. P.S. you have a jacuzzi???? lol |

Wow Michael! Sometimes I never know what to say to you...that was really sweet. My kiddos are a blessing from the Father...but they are blessed by the Father and that is the coolest... Michael, you would just be so proud of Allie if you sat down and talked to her today...she has grown so much in a few short weeks...that really gave me my tears of joy...I can't thank you enough for letting us all come and impose on you to see Andrew...;)
Hi Lara! My kids are 16 and 18, My daughter is the oldest...she is getting ready soon to go to college in a few short months, I don't know what I will do in the mornings without her...I am so grieved that I have not been able to show them what a good marriage looks like, it pains me on a regular basis...BUT God is showing me HE is more than capable to hold them, and keep them, and grow them regardless of my errors...
And yeah girl I have a Jacuzzi in a dark purple bathroom to boot ;) Anytime you want to sneak out of Canada your welcome to a bath on me! |

I just stand in awe sometimes at the GIFT my Father gave me and she in turn blessed me with 4 more. God is so good and it is at times like the bathroom when He reassures us that He has it all in control. |

| Ahhh sista! Dark purple! sweet! We know all about it..the marriage thing I mean. Mike & I talked about that not long ago, how we don't want Josiah growing up thinking ,'this is love?' We got so much stuff we gotta work through and get the intimacy back (if we ever really had it!). at least we aren't fighting as constantly as we once were! Marriage is HARD! especially with 2 strong personalities, as is in our case. |

| Lori: This is simply awesome. Let me give you encouragement, my friend. Ken and I raised two boys in a not good at all marriage, full of drugs, alcohol and fighting........God got ahold of me in 1990, and my boys were in church, even though the home life didn't improve.....my two sons are two of the best young men I know. They are great husbands and fathers....our's was a home with both parents there, but it didn't make it a good home. Your children are blessed to have a mom like you! |

| A wonderful word of God's marvellous love and grace Lori. I especially liked "I marveled that not a moment of love we give to those around us goes wasted." Just how true this word is and my prayer is that we would not be stingy with love to one another in our large family of faith. God bless you sis for perservering in Him. Love xoxox |
