I did not write any of this it was sent to me by email...thought it was very good and wanted to share!
JUST ONE EGG
It's hardly enough for your breakfast,
It isn't enough when you bake,
It isn't sufficient to make a meringue,
Or cookies, or a cake.
It doesn't go far in a salad,
Though you devil it, slice it or chop it.
But it covers the floor from wall to wall -
WHEN YOU DROP IT! (author unknown)
This poem is one that my husband's grandmother kept in her scrapbook, one that I always enjoyed.. I looked in my refrigerator the other day, saw I only had one egg and I remembered her poem.
Sometimes we are like that one egg - we feel we aren't all that important or that we couldn't possibly make much of a difference in our crazy, messed up world. "What can I do, I=E 2m just one person". Would anyone even miss me if I didn't show up at the party or at class, or at church. Just one egg doesn't make an Easter egg hunt, either! When things go wrong in our life, sometimes we feel like we are the one egg that splats on the floor -just another mess for someone else to clean up.
This one little egg sitting in my refrigerator reminds me that God values me and has bigger plans for me than just being an insignificant nuisance. Inside the egg, God placed the essential ingredients for life. He placed inside each individual a heart and soul, which is more important to God than anything else in His creation. He valued all of us so much that He sent His Son to the cross to pay for sin so that we could have life with Him forever. How can that be true? I may never understand it and may never have the perfect words to explain it, but I'm just glad it is true. Jesus cared enough that if I were the only egg in world, he would suffer and die and rise, just for me.
It may seem like a foolish thing for God to send His perfect Son to our world just to have his life splattered on the ground. There were those at the cross that day that wanted to mop up the mess and forget about it. What a waste of a perfect life! Some claimed it was foolishness! But some saw and believed and something powerful happened. Their sins were covered completely. They were forgiven. They rose with Christ to new, eternal life!
Just like the egg being dropped to the floor, when Christ died his blood covered our sins completely - wall to wall. No more mess, no more guilt, no more worthlessness. We rise from our sin to eternal life! The symbol of Easter is in both the cross and the egg. Decorating and hiding eggs may seem foolish, but the message of the cross is powerful and life changing!
1 Corinthians 1:18, 21
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. ...God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
Happy Easter ! God bless you! |
