10:19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, 10:20 by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,
We are completely free to enter the Most Holy Place....
We can enter through...the curtain---Christ's body.
To the original readers, those last four words were explosive: "the curtain---Christ's body." According to the writer, the curtain equals Jesus. Hence, whatever happened to the flesh of Jesus happened to the curtain. What happened to his flesh? It was torn. Torn by the whips, torn by the thorns. Torn by the weight of the cross and the point of the nails. But in the horror of his torn flesh, we find the splendor of the open door....
We are welcome to enter into God's presence--any day, any time.
Isn't that lovely? Just to think that entering into the Most Holy, most intimate fellowship with God requires only that we draw back the curtain of Jesus' Body & Blood and enter in.... it is such a beautiful, peaceful picture!
I remember as a child, hearing the story so many times, and not understanding why on earth the veil would be torn, and what is a veil, anyways???? lol Seriously. It was almost a year after I got born again, it clicked...and I could enter the holy of holies b/c of Jesus.
