We all face the temptation to be anxious about burdens, circumstances, trials, loved ones or the future. Life's dealt us some hard trials that we may had have grown sad or bitter. The unhappiness or sadness in our souls now is reflected on the outside of us even if we try to cover it up. God never meant for His people to live in sadness, oppress, depression or without peace. When Jesus went to the cross, He died not only to give us salvation, but also abundant life. John 10:10 Jesus said, "The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that you might have life and life abundant".
God never intended for us to carry our own burdens. He wants to carry them for us; therefore, circumstances should not make us bitter but better.
There was once a farmer who had a donkey. One day the donkey wondered around and fell into an old empty well. The farmer gathered few other farmers and together they tried to get the donkey out of the well unsuccessfully. Aware of the donkey’s eminent fate they decided to bury him in the old well. With shovels in hand they started to fill the well with soil. When the soil hit the donkeys back, at that very moment the donkey had two choices, let the dirt bury him alive or to use the dirt for his advantage. A life or death decision needed to be made. As soon as he felt the dirt on his back, he decided to shake it off and stepped on it. Instead of the donkey accepting his fate, he decided that he was going to shake the dirt of his back and use the dirt to step higher. The more dirt the farmers threw on his back the faster the donkey shook it off, stepped on it, and got higher and higher until he was able to walk out of the old well and to freedom. The donkey had the choice and he decided that the weight of the dirt was not going to bury him alive. The dirt that was intended to kill him he used it to his advantage. He used it to get higher and higher and to walk away to freedom.
Although the circumstances in our lives may not change, what make us successful or unsuccessful it is the way that we deal with it. Are you going to let the weight of your circumstances bury you or are you going to use the circumstances to get higher and higher?
We have to cast worry off of ourselves and trust God with our problems. It takes humility to say, God; I give this problem to you because You can take care of it much better that I can. Only then we will fully release the weight of each burden to Him. Choose instead, to abide in God’s wonderful peace. Jesus Himself is our Peace. Believe what the Word of God says about you instead of focusing in the trial and you will come out of the situation in victory! Be determine today that you are not going to allow circumstances to control your life, but that you will believe God for His victory. It's hard for us to comprehend how much God really loves us, that He wants to be involved in the tiniest details of our lives but He does. He cares about our children, the heartaches we've had, the job we need, our health… But we must let Him enter into those places to repair the damage with His love. God alone can love us through those hard times. When you take God at His word, and really meditate on His love for you, it will change you! He takes the very worst of who we are and heals and restores us so that we can be His children on this earth. We can trust our Father because he's faithful to finish what He has begun. Love is the only thing that changes everyone for the better.
Romans 8:28 All things work together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.
