When I was teaching high school English, I had several instances where students would say to me that they didn't care if they learned the story or not because they would never use it again once they were outside of school. I told them that may be true but to have the freedom and the ability to learn was invaluable and they should look at it as an opportunity to grow.

I wonder how many times we sit down to read God's word without praying first for revelation and understanding or how many times we skip over a certain passage because we feel it's not relevant to our own lives. We teachers used to say that a little bit of learning is a dangerous thing because you can speak of something before you ever really know all the facts. It's kind of like not wanting to witness to someone about God because of the fear that they will ask you a question you won't be able to answer because of your unpreparedness. I know. I understand this one. However, the only way to combat being unprepared is to study and grow in God's word.

God is an awesome God; a loving God; a just God; a jealous God and we should both fear him and delight in him. He allows us to grow. He sustains us. He loves us unconditionally. We should never be foolish of God's will and God's purpose for his children.
