God makes many promises to those who are patient and who do not grow weary in His service. In the Book of Revelation, He speaks of those who overcome:
Rev. 2:7--To him who overcomes I will give the right to eat from the tree of life which is in the paradise of God.
Rev. 2:11--He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.
Rev. 2:17--To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna. I will give him a white stone [which in trials of the day would indicate innocence] with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.
Rev. 2:26--To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations.
Rev. 3:5--He who overcomes will be dressed in white. I will never blot his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and His angels.
Rev. 3:12--Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God. And I will also write on him my new name.
Rev. 3:21--To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne.
Rev. 21:5-7--He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then He said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son."
The word overcome/s literally translates conquer, prevail, get authority over. We are called by God to overcome the evil of this world. Thankfully, we are not left to the task alone. Rev. 12:11 says we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. "This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the son of God" (I John 5:3-5). We know that "in this world [we] will have trouble," but Jesus tells us to "Take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33b).
Thank you, Lord Jesus, that You have fought the fight that I could not win, and that You have paid the price that I could not afford--You overcame the world on our behalf and made us more than conquerors. Thank You for the promises of eternity that You have laid at my feet. Help me always to cling to Your Great Big, Nail-Scarred Hand, and to serve You well until that dreadful and glorious day when I meet You face to face. Amen
2:3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary.
