Fools despise wisdom and instruction....hmm, you bet! b/c they are controlled by pride, I would imagine. As for fearing the Lord, I think that's a bit stronger than respect. Wifes are told to respect their husbands, not fear them. So there must be some distinction between fear and respect. I keep reading how ppl in the bible react to direct encounters w/angels. It seems the tyical reaction is to be terrified. This is certainly stronger than a feeling of respect. If people find angels to be terrifying, can we imagine what seeing God himself might be like??? Nevertheless, respect is certainly an aspect of that fear you describe. Plus, the angels usually respond with "be not afraid!"
