4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
We must know, in fact, we stand on the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord as the foundation of our faith. As Paul says, if He did not raise from the dead we are most miserable indeed.
15:14 and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain. 15:15 Yea, we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised. 15:16 For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised: 15:17 and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
But further, if His resurrection is the foundation of our faith, then the fact that he is coming back for us must be, and is the foundation for our hope and our joy. Be careful not to give up your eager expectation of His return. It is the very thing that can get you through to the "trumpet call." The world and the enemy himself would do nothing more than to rob us of this special gift of God, our hope in His return. But we cannot let that happen. Get hold of it, hang on to it, and long for Christ's return, for if you do, you will receive a crown of righteousness. Praise be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; 4:17 then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
