I like the one you mentioned as well as the second one in the third row :)

You guys rock!

No offense to Jon whatsoever, but we women have to stick together!  I like Carol's :)

If something works, why change it?

I personally love the new What's Fresh section.

Here's another idea I saw "out there"...  My kids signed up for FaithFreaks, because there are a bunch of younger kids on there.  And they have "Jesus" as an automatic friend when you first sign up.  This way members are never "friendless."  Or we could add the MyChurch team as an auto-friend.

5th logo, second row caught my eye, but all of them (except one) are really appealing.  No help, right?  The decision lays in your lap.  That's why they pay you the BIG bucks!  ;-p

Joe, the design in the one you like looks like a strangely colored ear of corn on my computer.  And that ain't right because it makes me hungry!

My wife likes the 5th one on the second row :)

Here is my two cents worth...

1. I don't like the lower case "M".  Stay with the upper case. It makes us different.
2. I like the dove and am in agreement with Soozanne on this one. Having grown up in the valley of the Jolly Green Giant, I don't like the ones that look like an ear of corn. I like the tri-color ones.  We could even make it part of our foundation - tri-color for a triune God. Whatever.
3.  I don't mind the heart - it is on every tab and web address, too. However, both a heart and a dove may be too much. How about asking Jon to soften the tips of the wings of the dove, make them more round, and they will form a heart.

So, that is my input.  No hard feelings in any direction. If you hadn't asked I would have been totally happy with what we currently have.

< QUOTE >

The backstory on this logo was that I really didn't care for having the heart over the 'y'.  Call me cold and heartless, but I thought it was too warm and fuzzy (and feminine)... but Carol obviously won that argument!

Joe is a VERY wise man...

Sooooooooooooo...

It should be very obvious to Joe who gets to pick the logo the second time around!

And...

voice_in_dc has some good comments too for a "story" behind the logo:

1. Tri-color for the Trinity
2. Heart for God's agape love
3. etc.

Just like many logos, there is a story or meaning behind the symbols.

Dave

P.S. to Jon Haarstad: May God richly bless you for your contributions to MyChurch.org

I like the 3rd and 6th logos on the second row. The colors are pleasant, contrasting, and provide clarity to the viewer.

I love the ones that don't have the word "Beta" on them. :)

Voice, you grew up in Le Sueur?

No. Belvidere Illinois. Corn Canning plant. Summer work was all in the fields. I was 18 before I realized most people "bought" their sweet corn. I still love sweet corn today.

Le Sueuer, MN which was about 10 minutes from where I used to live and 45 or so from where I grew up, had a huge Green Giant plant as well, and a big ol' sign announcing "Welcome to the home of Green Giant" or something like that.  They must consider everywhere they are to be home? :)

You are right. Le Sueur is where they started. All we did was sweet corn in Belvidere.  Interesting to note where the term "Green Giant" comes from - a huge pea.

lol - Thanks, Voice!  I wasn't seeing corn, but I also wasn't seeing a dove!  I was seeing an odd flower, which is probably what I will continue to see, but at least now I know.

And I agree with Voice about the upper case M.

I like the decision, if it happens, to move away from the heart.  Perhaps because I'm a guy, who knows.  I'm not sure what people mean by a dove.  I only see a flower or corn...so I'm not the biggest fan of the new icon / logo.  My personal favorite of the ones above is the 3rd one on the second row.

fifth one on the second row stuck out to me...that's funny that several of you said that out of all those logos. But like everyone else I think it is cool that the community is contributing...almost sounds like uh...church.

How about pitching the corn/flower/dove and putting the MyChurch cross in its place?

Hey Sue, I like that idea. I have to admit...I had to stop and contemplate what that was. I thought it was a flower until I read the comments and when someone said it was a dove, then I thought. "oh."  Over all, I like Joe's pick but I like the font that you currently use in the logo. I just prefer clean fonts in advertising. I think they make a better impact. Kudos to Jon for a great job. Love the colors in Joe's pick.

I would like to see more diversity of choices before throwing in my vote. Not a whole lot to pick from. What about a graphical element to identify "church" or personal connections? This begs for a contest.
Justin Browne

I agree, a contest seems to make the most sense.  It would be great to have more choices.

Hm...  I like the first logo in the second row.

I don't know about the image (the only non character thing in the logos).  I don't know what it is.  It looks like Piglet to me, for some reason.

Joe: I love the iteration grouped into four on the bottom. But I like the sans-serif font for "Church" as seen in rows one and two. (I do like "My" in the italicized serif.) The dove is an excellent representation.

Certainly the four logos on the lower are superior to the existing one. I hope we move toward one of them.

I think if we had a contest, I'd vote for Jon's submission. They are nicely done. Anything can be tweaked for ages, especially in a community of vastly different minds and tastes. To me, the best of this group of logos should be liked by most. That's probably the best we can hope for.

Hey Jon did a great job. I also liked teh one you mentioned Joe. The heart is cute, but, well you know, maybe it's a guy thing.......

Another suggestion: What about using the little logo of the church with the cross that you guys are using for the status updates?  It's more appropriate than a heart or a dove.

My gut reaction drew me to row 2 #5 because of the sharp text & bold but contemporary colors.  I see the dove & have to admit that the last one (row 3 #1) did look like an ear of corn (probably because of the 2 segments in green.  If the front wing was changed to the brown color I think that would alleviate the corn reference.  In that case I would prefer row 3 #1 (Joe's pick)  The color combo would be simple but having the "my" in a more subtle green emphasizes the "Church" in a bloder blue & sticking with the current color scheme which whether we realize it or not - is already imprinted on us as a trademark of the site.  Compliments to Jon for such clean designs & his time developing them.
