What do you do with your Sabbath?

As a Christian, I observe the Lord's Day on Sunday rather than the Jewish Sabbath on Saturday.

However, as a Christian pastor, I end up working hard on Sunday.

I believe that the Biblical principal of needing a day of rest is still important. For me, my day off, and thus my Sabbath, is Friday. I guess that's almost Biblical, since the Jewish Sabbath really starts at sundown on Friday night. :-)

Anyway, I try to "unplug" from all technology from sometime early on Friday morning until mid to late Friday afternoon. During that time, I do not get on the Internet, No emails. No Facebook or MyChurch.org. I stay off the telephone and cell phone (I even put the phones in another part of the house so that I don't hear them), I leave the TV and radio off, and I don't listen to CD's.

What do I do with myself? I work out at the Y (I admit I do see TV's there), and I ride my bicycle. I spend time reading my Bible and in prayer. And I read other good books. I love this time, and I highly recommend it.

After church and lunch I like to rest and take a nap.  But I do worry about going out to eat after church.  Do you think we are keeping the restaurant workers from going to church?  I remember when there were 'Blue Laws' and businesses could not open on Sunday, later they could not open until 12 noon or after.  Now Sunday is just another day for businesses.  The 2 businesses that I can think of that continue to close on Sunday's are Chick-fil-a and the Hobby Lobby Arts & Crafts store (I'm sure there are others) and they continue to be successful business.  Your thoughts?
