In the Original Pattern, God created man spirit, soul, and body.  Man is a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a body.  Man's spirit is the part of him that KNOWS God.  He is in the same class with God because God is a Spirit and God made man to fellowshp with Him.  The Way it Worked Before SIN:  God moved upon man's spirit; His SPIRIT moved upon his SOUL (that's your mind, will, and your emotions); and His SOUL directed His BODY.

Scriptures prove this out  Matthew 16:26 (NASB)
^{Mt 26} "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV)
^{Mt 37} Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

THE PRICE:  Thru the rebellsion of Adam and Eve, the SPIRIT was set ASIDE and the SOUL took Control of Man.  All Mankind loives under the CONTROL of the SOUL.

The Soul has 3 functions:  the mind, the will, and the  emotions.  WHO RULES YOU?  The scriptures teach that we are to WALK IN THE SPIRIT so we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (your SOUL).
Scriptures  again bear this out:  Galatians 5:16-17 (NKJV) ^{Gal 16} I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.   ¹⁷ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
Galatians 5:25 (NKJV)
^{Gal 25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Romans 8:1 (NKJV)
^{Ro 1} There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Romans 8:4 (NKJV)
^{Ro 4} that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

YOU SAY:  I thought I was saved????   The ANSWER:  You are if you have confessed your sins..  THE QUESTION:   Where are you saved?      The ANSWER:   in your new Created SPIRIT

The new created SPIRIT comes to save your SOUL.  This is something that we must learn to do...Take control of our SOULMAN, which is our mind, our will, our emotion.  

Now we can begin to understand WHY CHRISTIAN PEOPLE have problems.  It is because they allow the SOUL to rule instead of the SPIRIT of GOD in their SPIRIT.
