| Thank God It's Friday! |

Today was Friday and I had a wonderful day out in the fresh air! Now a lot of people say "TGIF" because they've been cooped up in an office or other work situation for five days. Maybe they don't like their job. They dread Mondays and can hardly wait for Friday to be over so they can relax and do something different over the weekend.
Not me. I like Fridays. I have always marched to the beat of a different drummer! I happen to love what I do; my Fridays and Mondays have been like other peoples' Saturdays and Sundays most of my working life. I'm a musician and I teach, practice or perform five days a week. Mondays are my Sabbath, Fridays are my Saturdays. (Are you still with me?) Besides music, writing is my compulsion and flower gardening is my stress-buster. If there's any time left over I eat, sleep, or communicate with my husband. :-)
To make a long story short, today I spent the whole day working in my perennial flowerbeds. They somewhat resemble English cottage gardens and are appreciated by many people in our community. I have come to view this "flower thing" as a ministry because I'm discovering that folks see this as an oasis of beauty in the middle of traffic noise and hot asphalt.
It's easy to see why God originally placed us humans in a garden. He walks there. I feel His presence even more keenly there than when I'm indoors.
So for now our April rains are over, the weather is warm again and hope is in the air.
Thank God it's Friday! :-) |
