PRUNING KNIFE

15:2 Every branch of mine that bears no fruit, he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.




Submitting to God's pruning can be painful. Yielding requires persistent faith. We must hold tightly to God's character with tears in our eyes.

But our Master Gardener is trustworthy. He loves us too much to elevate looking good above being good. With each cut of His "pruning knife," God thins our lives in order to thicken our character.

Amen my sister....LOL....I know all about that pruning knife....Thank God for the cutting away, to mold us into the person Jesus desires us to be...Thanks for sharing ;o)

If we look at the source of our pain (the pruning knife) how can we not grow discouraged and want to pull back. But if we are focused on the One doing the pruning, how can we miss the love behind the pruning??

Thinning our lives in order to thicken our character...yes.  In order to bear more fruit we must be pruned.

I see somewhat of a parallel here with trying to live more simply.  As I get rid of a lot of the material "stuff" that I've accumulated through the years, it has freed me up to focus more on the important aspects of my life.  Less is more.  Maybe this sounds like a strange comparison to what you wrote about but I thought of it anyway.   :-)
