| We have what we need |

Reading the daily devotional from Christianity.com today inspired me to thank God that he has created this earth, and praise God for his word (which does not change) and I thank God for my life which he trusts me with. It occurs to me that if God trusts me to live in this world and keep his command, who am I to doubt myself? But, with free will comes the responsibility to know that if we choose wrong, we will have to live with the consequences. He gives us both...what his promises if we keep his commands, then, what will happen if we don't..then we get to choose. I love God's word because it tells me in black and white, as they say. Think about it, if God trusts us with free will in this world, who are we to doubt our existence? Who are we to doubt his power? It occurs to me that we can wear our knees out in prayer, yet never come close to the power waiting for us in his word, he is delights in our study of his word just as a father delights in his child wanting to be just like him when he grows up. God includes us in our own salvation....but that means we have to study and obey his word. I got this good idea from the devotional-read it here....When we have a specific prayer request, we need to not only pray, but look that particular subject up in his word to find the answer. I was frustrated in school when I asked a teacher for help and she would just smile and say, "look it up" and I always thought, "well, if I knew the answer, I wouldn't ask you." Imagine the same thing when we pray for help and we already have the answer in the word for anything we might need. Sure, we can't do anything without God, we need his help...but he has already given it to us in his word-we just have to find it. I believe God answers our prayers, but we have the very power of God in his word...all we have to do is believe in it, study it, and his word will help us....his word cannot fail and God is just waiting for us to make use of it.... 55:11 so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. I thank God for his word and that I have the freedom and ability to read it and believe it. |
