| Respect difference while speaking the truth |

So, today in the gym, you could hear a pin drop as the author of "Four Perfect Pebbles" told her story of the holocaust and what she endured as a result of intolerance and hate. Her message at the end was to respect people, tolerate others, or the past will repeat itself. She had me until that line. My mind felt like a rhythmic record that suddenly scratches and everything stops. "So," I'm thinking, "the answer to hate, racism and genocide is to tolerate the lies that everyone is okay, and every belief should be respected?" I'm shaking my head right now because this is what our children are learning in school. So, to let out a little frustration, I thought I would write. The answer is definitely love, and respect. However, there is no example of what that looks like except to look at Christ. He is the only one who perfectly loves. And ironically, that is the truth that no one wants told. Well, stop the press! 'Cause, I'm gonna speak the truth in love...how 'bout you? |
