Jim mowed and I dragged all the old plank boards with nails around and over the fence to make raised garden beds. I then drove to buy 30 bags of topsoil and 10 bags of garden soil and 20 bricks and some nails and seeds.
After all that, we were given a big plastic thingy that has fat feet and set it on bricks and he cut off the top and drilled holes so that I can have a container garden. I asked him if he was going to nail together the boards for other ones and he said he was going to have to rebuke me. ha, he said it in fun of course because he is learning about his authority in Christ. He pulled old rusty nails out and I planted beans and onions and then started cukes and peppers. I have some other stuff in peat pots growing. He is going to make more raised beds for me but not today.
What does this have to do with today's verse? Well, it all started that Ronny said if I wanted my marriage fixed to pray "Lord Change Me" and I did and viola! My husband found out what he was missing in the Christian life and is reading and praying and loving me and making everyday even bone wearying hard garden work a total joy.
I fixed him a nice dinner and a homemade apple pie. He is watching the Nascar race right now and truly, it just feels like this verse is speaking to me about the power of loving our husbands even when they are ornery cuss's and doing the right thing even when they aren't doing it back. My late husband came to Christ 8 months before his death in 2000 and said he would have never given God a chance if it had not been for seeing Christ in me. I don't have a lot of pleasant memories of that 16 year marriage but it was worth it if he saw Christ in me in spite of it.
Thank you Lord, I give you all the glory. Thank you Ronny for being my friend. I love ya, juanita mae
3:1 Likewise you wives, be submissive to your husbands, so that some, though they do not obey the word, may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,
