| You're Invisible |
|
| |
2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Part of you, the real you, is invisible. You cannot be explained by material reality alone. There is more to you than your physical existence. You are more than your body.
You have thoughts, ideas and emotions. Those are not just electrical impulses bouncing around in your skull, as some would have you believe, but rather are an inward reality. And the inner, invisible you is as real and as important as the physical, visible you.
Your invisible thoughts, ideas, and emotions matter. They are not incidentals. They are vital. They can elevate you to peace and joy, or slam you into misery. Because the inner you is so important, great care should be given to inward reality. Your thoughts, feelings, and opinions should be carefully selected and controlled so that they will produce positive results for you instead of negative results.
Very few people are careless with their body. Few would lie down on a major highway in rush hour traffic. Few would stroll blindfolded on the edge of a 50 story rooftop. The reality of their physical body stops them.
Yet many people are careless with their thoughts, feelings, and opinions. They fail to understand the reality of their inward, invisible world, and their inner carelessness causes them great pain and self-destruction.
We think that if we lavishly meet the needs and desires of our physical body, then our life will go well. What we often fail to realize is that our thoughts, feelings, and emotions need at least as much care and attention as our do our bodily needs and desires.
When you engineer a positive inner world, outward reality has little dominion over you. If you believe you are happy, then you are happy -- no matter what is happening in the physical world around you.
Your control is in your thoughts, emotions, and ideas. Consistently make them beautiful, uplifting, happy -- and everything else will follow.

4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. And the inner, invisible you is as real and as important as the physical, visible you. I think that the inner being is MORE important than the outer. This outer will pass away.... but the inner, whether good or bad... will live forever... in heaven or hell.... |

consider it all pure joy... :0) This is the scripture that I memorized as a youth and I must say has been the hardest to follow. As a teen I remember saying to myself that James would know Christ the best and so I memorized all 5 chapters. This however has been one of the hardest ones to follow because it makes you touch that "invisible you" and command it regardless of circumstance to PURE JOY and when you add that with "rejoice for the steps of a righteous man are ordered of God (and you can't play the "but I'm not righteous card" because God gave Him who knew no sin so that we might become his righteousness) so you are kind of stuck... and often when I forget the Holy Spirit is quick to remind me---Oh yeah and God also knows and pays attention to my thoughts like a loving Father :0) |
