Why do people who claim to have no interest in Jesus continually persecute us? It is like they seek after our soul, trying to ruin our focus, our demonstration of faith. I wonder if we can ever get to that place in our heart and mind like Jesus who saw the "religious crowd" coming after Him while in the midst of people truly seeking Him and would just be...well, cool. He did ask the "proud crowd" if they weren't sick or in need why were they coming to the doctor? I like that...thanks Jesus.
David wrote:
1 [Make haste], O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.
2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
5 But I [am] poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou [art] my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.
People tend to not like changes in them self. Not everyone agrees with our faith and trust in Jesus (Is. 43:10-15). Those in and of the world look for two specific reasons to not change; you and God. First, when we do not live to their perceived Godliness, they will point it out and mock us for not meeting theirexpectation of a Christian. Yet, we are to have love for them. I Cor 13:13 - Now abideth faith, hope, and charity...the greatest is charity. Don't worry about chasing this crowd to demonstrate it, they'll find you. Just keep praying and living the Word, like Jesus.
The other reason they do not want to change is God. You see the Word says God does not change, we have to. If My people which are called by My name will humble themselves... This is why the beginning of wisdom is fear of the LORD! People will need to compare them self to the Holy One. (Read Isaiah 43 from above). He is the Way, Truth, and Life, the Living God.
David had nobles speak out against him and drunkards sing mockery about him, but He prayed through to God's mercy! (Ps. 69: 12-14) You and I need to keep the faith by being a witness of Jesus, the soon coming Messiah! The more we read (wisdom) the greater the difference the LORD will make in us. You can hold on to the Word because it does not return empty back to us when we live it. It's a challenge, but if it was easy everyone would do it. Is. 43:12 - when our house and heart are pure (no strange god), He shows Himself. That right there is our humbleness towards Him. That's the witness, like Jesus, we need to be. As we change our heart on the inside, we as His followers, will begin to hear and see things differently. The people will see and hear things differently from within us. Christ in us, the hope of Glory!
Be blessed in your personal relationship with Jesus!
