John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." (John 14, read chapter) “he who dies with the most toys still dies”, remember that bumper sticker? Don’t we spend a lot of time accumulating new toys. We are family that enjoys video games, pc games, board games etc. I still posses my original NES from the eighties. But some of the old games I don’t play any more, they just collect dust. Every once in a while I’ll clean the old games off with rubbing alcohol wipe off the juice they may have spilled on it, and then play the games, but the entertainment runs out pretty quick, and soon after, the system is back collecting dust, and this happens with newer games and systems as well. The Bible warns us of backslidding. Slidding is like climbing to the top of a water slide, and coasting down. Backslidding would be attempting to go back up the water, your putting forth an effort but your not getting anywhere, your choosing your own way to do things, and your spinning your wheels. I “have” a lot of old video games, but I don’t “keep” on playing them. Often times we “have” God’s word, we “know” it, but we’re not “keeping” it, meaning we not keeping on doing it. It’s vitally important we understand and know the difference, or before you know it, your in a backslidden condition, going backwards up a water slide. For the Christian, that is doing things like “let me dust off my prayer life”, or “let me try and dust off the bible”, etc, fill in the blank… the problem is, if we’re not keeping on doing these things, it is going to take a lot more than some rubbing alcohol to get back into the routine of enjoying ever day life with God (LOL Joyce) With Jesus, its never too late to grab a hold of Him, remember the woman who had a hemorrhage problem, she fought through the multitudes to grab a hold of Jesus, and in the midst of all those people Jesus said “who touched me”, for He felt His power flow from himself to heal the woman and heal her? (Luke 5:24-34) Today, that may be you, you want to stop the bleeding of your backslidden condition, Jesus hasn’t forgotten your touch, take a moment reach out, and keep on reaching, ask and keep asking, seek, and keep seeking, knock and keep knocking, those who ask, seek , and knock, will receive, find, and it will be opened to them. (Matthew 7:7,8) |
