As I said yesterday, I am still convinced that my spiritual gift is as a pastor-teacher, not prophet-preacher. Nevertheless, just like evangelism, God expects us all to preach too! As I went to Farmville yesterday for an afternoon anniversary service for Pastor Martin at Zion Hill BC I was eager to Worship the LORD with them and hear some good preaching too. It was a wonderful service and a real blessing in more ways than I have time to say right now. However, it was after the service as I was leaving that God blessed me yet again! A new to me brother in the LORD, a prophet-preacher, shared an umprompted by me but prompted by the Spirit through him Scripture that I believe I really needed to hear. He quoted these words to my heart/soul 58:1 "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins. Like the reluctant (really rebellious!) prophet Jonah, it was not a Word I wanted to hear, but it was a Word that I needed to hear and needed to hear especially yesterday. Being a prophet-preacher, like being an evangelist, is something I always now aspire to but it is not something that comes easy for me and it didn't yesterday either! May the LORD JESUS HIMSELF give us all more of HIS GIFTS OF SERVICE to PREACH & EVANGELIZE!!! |
