| REAL workmanship discovered |
|
| |
2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. According to the author (Paul), God fully prepared all our good works in advance, so that we merely “put the pieces together.” So if there’s any workmanship at all to be praised and celebrated, it isn’t our accomplishment, but God’s. And then we also discover… The real workmanship isn’t even the works themselves—it’s us!!
Where is the room for pride? Where is the basis for comparing ourselves with others? If all our good works are prefabricated, and we can’t even take credit for the talents that went into putting the pieces together, what becomes the emphasis of our praise and admiration? God crafted each and every one of us specifically to assemble the pieces, his pieces, in order to complete the good works he already prepared.
Are you thinking what I’m thinking??? Positive affirmation is good and encouraging, but right now it appears to me that ALL PRAISE BELONGS TO GOD, NOT US!! Not you, not me, none of us!!
(This is the 2nd of 3 consecutive blogs on this verse.)ps... Juanita wrote a touching blog today about how God made each of us for a specific purpose. Her blog is like the life application of the truths in this one!!! Go to: I am a tin cup |

Amen Mike! All we do is look to see what He is doing and do it; listen to what He is saying and say it! We then speak only of those things that Christ has accomplished through us [Romans 15:18]. When it turns out well and we are praised for it, it produces no pride in us because we know who the source is and who accomplished the task. It is our awesome glory to get to experience the very life of God flowing through us to others...that is a reward in itself; there could be nothing more glorious! :-) Blessings! Craig |

[star!] | Isn't it awesome to know that GOD put each one of us together to do a specific job for Him. The job does not have to be something that will draw the attention of the world, but to draw attention to His goodness and mercy in each one of our small corners of the world. There are so many things to be done great and small and He has prefabricated each scenario.... MIND BOGGLING... It is all for His glory not ours......
Thank you Father |

15:18 For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through me to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and deed, Good scripture reference Craig! Thanks Mary, and yes it is boggling my mind. HIS works, HIS workmanship, HIS purposes, but MY joy!! LOL, Ken! Great comment (from the heart/mind of Christ Jesus!) :-) Thanks Julie & Ken! |

Hi Mike, My personal theological understanding is that God exists beyond the constraints of time and space and knows exactly what needs to be accomplished at every moment in time, and then he chooses us, individually, with precise talents and desires, to meet that need when the time comes. So the desire, ability, service and completion of the need is completely His work, I'm simply a willing admirer. Excellent lesson, my friend. |

[star!] | All the praise & all the glory does go to the Lord. Humility & our walk go hand in hand. Don't you like the play on words? LOL |

| I like the course in the song David Crowder Band sings, "You make everthing glorious, what does that make me?" We are the glorious works of God and get to be used for His purpose with His accomplishments already assured For His Glory. It is all His and rightfully so. But it still thrills me to know of what God thinks of me. (choke, heavy breathing, cough, sniffle) Gets me every time. |

I appreciate your reference to my blog. I am glad you understood that I didn't exalt myself for liking old stuff. In fact, someone has to buy the new or the economy really will suffer. lol I rarely buy new. Some folks are called on to take care of the animals on this planet, some are not annointed to. Some are called to raise their kids and other folks kids and some never want to be near the munchkins. They have other callings. I think it is hilarious that my stepmom can tear apart a computer and fix it but won't use it to email or look up stuff. I can barely download stuff, but on it all the time. We all have our purpose and God designed us all for a purpose. I saw this even more recently when visiting a Christian family who showed me thier earthworm box making fertilizer from kitchen waste and grass clippings etc. Glad I am NOT an earthworm. Thank you Lord! |

[star!] | MIke and Laura, Praise be to God from whom ALL!!!!!!!!blessings flow. You are right all Praise belongs to God, even the next breath we take or step we make Praise to God. He alone is worthy of our praise. It is sad how much God gets the blame but never the credit. Love you two PC |

[star!] | It is so nice to get praise for something that we do. It is important to remain humble in everything. And to give God credit for it all. We truly would be nothing, without God. We have to remember that. |

Great verse Todd! Fits perfectly w/this message. Glenn, your input appreciated! Deb, it is nice to get praise (affirmation), and I am reminded that we should keep the extent of our own actually praiseworthiness in mind as we receive it (thus being governed by humility). Thanks Pastor Chuck....yes it is God from whom all blessings flow to us. He is worthy of praises, never blame! Juanita, your blog fit perfectly, really brought these thoughts home in a personal way. So cool too how we were on the same page -- by the Spirit, I imagine. Thanks Anthony, Jen, Maureen, Kimberly & Tonya... more stars for God! Liz, don't know that song but I imagine it's wonderful -- and fits with this scripture. Thanks for the post! Panda, nice play on words, lol. Yep, all the praise to God...sure takes the pressure off me! Jonathan, I can agree w/your theological understanding =) |

| Gosh Mike. Such simple theology but so very hard to get people to understand. They belong to God and whatever they do in life that glorifies him is important!!! |
