| If only.... |

If only we as Christians prayed a prayer such as this daily...no not daily, just weekly that we draw nearer to the Lord and that our hands be cleaned and our hearts purified as unto the Lord, the results would be limitless. I am a sinner and a hypocrite same as any. My actions and my thoughts have not always been of the Lord. In fact, I bet if I weighed my life in terms of "Godly" vs. "UnGodly", the UnGodly would reign far superior that of the other. If I as a Christian would have prayed a simple prayer consisting of a request such as James 4:8, I would not be where I am today. I suppose I can own it up to complacency and self comfort, but I won't. It is sheer laziness and passiveness that has landed me here. Laziness in simple prayers and actions like this are usually what lead to the bigger dissappointments. Your hands can only get so dirty before you wipe them on another part of your body, therefore soiling and contaminating another portion of what God had cleaned. Eventually, if you stay in the filth, you begin to inhale it. This sin is like simply eating a pop-sickle as a child. We are children aren't we? Your mother brings you a popsickle, she unwraps it for you and within 5 minutes....you have it all over you. From face to feet. That is how sin is. We come into this world, we are given a life that is worth living and in 15-20-25 years we have figured out how to get the world's sins all over us. Please pray a prayer today as a Christian....BETTER YET, as a non-Christian. Pray that God draws you closer to him, that he washes your hands of "Filth" and that he purifies your heart so that you may receive him in. We as Christians I believe now more than ever should pray this daily so that God has a resting place in our hearts. If he is in our hearts, he goes where we go, he's there.... I say this from experience, not as someone who is "All-Knowing" but of someone who has been shattered by the "filth" and by the loneliness that comes from having a God-less life. I will practice what I preach and say this prayer as well. I will also pray that you who read this do the same. God Bless. 4:8 Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind. |
