There have been a couple of posts as of late that have gotten my attention.  Not because they were mind blowing in their teaching, but rather because they didn't seek to teach.  They were stories of woe, sorrow and struggle.  As I read the comments, person after person offered advice of what to do.

One which I read and especially identified with chronicled the person's struggle to maintain the right bearing.  In every cloud there is a silver lining, right?  Long term I'm sure there may be truth in that.  Short term all the person can see is the rain.  Does the person's life improve by denying the rain? 

Advice is great, and the joy of Jesus is great.  But we need to watch so we don't become like Job's friends (or wife) who assumes that there is always something Job could do to change the clouds.  Sometimes instead of opening our mouth thinking we should try to provide the answer, we should shut our mouths and sit with the person, pray for the person and let God handle the question.
