Hey, My Precious Friends. Here is another one of those verses you just can't read and pass over lightly! Obviously, most anyone one would want their name in this book!
The Book of Life is the set of names of those who will live with God forever in heaven. It is the roll of those who are saved. This Book of Life is also mentioned in Revelation 3:5; 20:12; and Philippians 4:3.
But here is what is so very important about this verse. This is what we need to talk about when "another religion" comes knocking at the door! This same book is also called the Lamb's Book of Life because, that's Who's book it is. It contains the names of those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lord Jesus, Yahshua. (Revelation 13:8; 21:27). In fact, when it comes time to open it, we read in Rev 5, that ONLY "The Lamb" CAN open it. It isn't Mary's book, nor is it even God's book. This is confusing for some who have trouble looking at The Trinity as ONE ONLY, but it is a life and death issue when it comes to our eternal fate.
How can you be sure your name is written in the Book of Life? Be sure you're saved. Repent of sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, Yahshua as your Savior (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:5). Once your name is written in the Book of Life, it is never erased (Revelation 3:5; Romans 8:37-39). No true believer should doubt his eternal security in Christ (John 10:28-30).
The Great White Throne Judgment described in Revelation 20:11-15 is a judgment for unbelievers. That passage makes it clear that no one at that judgment has his name in the Book of Life (Revelation 20:12-14). Since their names are not in the Book of Life, their fate is sealed, their punishment is sure.
Some people point to Revelation 3:5 as "proof" that a person can lose his salvation. However, the promise of Revelation 3:5 is clearly that the Lord will not erase a name: "He who overcomes . . . I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life." An overcomer is one who is victorious over the temptations, trials, and evils of this world—in other words, one who is redeemed. The saved are written in God's registry and have the promise of eternal security.
Another passage over which confusion sometimes arises is Psalm 69:28: "Let them [David's enemies] be blotted out of the book of the living." This "book of the living" should not be confused with the Lamb's Book of Life. David is referring to earthly, physical life, not eternal life in heaven. The same is true of the "book" mentioned in Exodus 32:32-33.
Jesus said that "those, whom The Father (God) has given me - The Lamb, I will not lose". When you stand before God, He will look over to see if The Lamb has you listed... In other words... "Are you covered in the Blood", or did you believe you could get in another way? There is no other way!

Beloved Preston,
"Love rejoices in the Truth" !
Thank you for this insight.
Man, I can tell you - the Evil One has had a field day with me on this issue of "now you've done it! You'll never make it now...Jesus has given up on you...." And thrown all the Scriptures at me to try and defeat a Child of God on this issue.
Well, to my absolute delight (as usual) Yahshua reminded me: "If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
The Truth my dearest Brothers and Sisters is that Yahshua said, "It is finished." END OF STORY.
Now let's just look at this for a moment from satan's point of view. If he can get JUST ONE back off Yahshua, once that one is truly born again, saved and sanctified by the Blood of The Lamb, then in effect, Yahshua's sacrifice WAS NOT ENOUGH to purchase men for God! It needs MORE...Gasp! What's more, even MAN has more power (to be lost) that God has to SAVE him!
Got you pinned o' enemy of all that is holy and righteous! For YOU are a liar and the father of lies and Yahshua is THE TRUTH. Wouldn't you LOVE to think that YOU have the last say?
Therefore, if Yahshua says, He will not lose any that the Father has given Him and even shed his precious Blood to seal this, then BEGONE! The Lord rebuke you!
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." !
Amen!

Precious Hanna,... Oops,.. I mean Anna, hehe... That's why the call it "The Sword",.. Amen? I am not speaking down to you in any way. We remind each other of little things like this as we grow together, but look how the truth "Slashed" through the lies.
Like the knife of a cancer surgeon, it cuts that which doesn't belong in us away. Removing the cancerous lies that pull us down.
I wrote an article here about depression and how it begins (often) with little lies that make us question ourselves falsely. How they grow and make us suspicious of everyone and ultimately God.
A person suffering from depression has to replace those lies with the TRUTH. I think it is a good read, but I Know the scriptures I use are like GOLD... Hehe.
