You know, this should be an easy verse to live up to. I mean, how can we complain about the ugliness of this world to us when it was even uglier to Christ Himself. He was beaten and bloodied for us. He died a most horrific death for us. And yet, there are those who actually hate Him. How can that be? I have witnessed people who say they are indebted to someone for getting tickets to a ball game, or for finding something that was lost. Those are just things. What Christ gave was His life! Instead of being indebted though they actually are filled with hate. I suppose that's because He did something that they wouldn't even consider doing. However, here's the struggle; we all want to be loved or at the very least liked. No one wants to be hated. I have a man that does not know me at all and yet has said he hates me. How can that be? But according to this verse I guess I should ber comforted in knowing that I am in very good company - being hated and all. Why doesn't that make me feel any better? Why do I expect to be treated better than my Lord? 15:18 "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. |
