I brought another picture back from my visit to the grands this past weekend. My granddaughter always draws people with prominent belly buttons. No picture is complete without the circle in midsection. I started thinking about them. They are scars from the "lifeline" of nourishment from our moms in utero. Moms know that what goes in their mouth affects their babes in their wombs so they are careful not to take certain medications as it travels directly to a wee babe unable to tolerate it without consequences. It takes up to a couple of weeks for the umbilical cord to dry up and fall off leaving us with a belly button. That process is quite ugly actually and care of it is demanded and most mom's remember when their child's "cord" fell off. It was almost as important as the first tooth budding. Some folks have scars that are deeper and some protrude. These are known as innies and outies. So funny but we truly do find some belly buttons prettier than others. Some have attached eye catching jewels on piercings to say LOOK at my belly button. When I was a little girl, my maternal grandfather had to have his belly button removed. I was mortified at such a surgery. I lived out of town and they allowed us to come visit him in the hospital at a time when those under 12 were banned. During my morning shower thoughts...I thought of how we were born again and maturing and what goes into our eyes and ears ( perhaps a spiritual umbilical cord) determines our spiritual well being. Good nutrients to help us grow strong would equate with the Word and prayer. It is an ongoing thing rather than ending at birth....not dried up and falling off. When we get to heaven, perhaps we will have a second belly button. I'll place a bet if we do it is heart shaped. :) |

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Yes, Juanita~Just as Christ Jesus said, '...He is The Vine and we are The Branches...' Infant Children are like beautiful little branches, their very lives depending upon the Mom. What a lovely image You have given of our Heavenly Heart Shaped belly buttons.......Ken & Angel ORR |

[star!] | So, we have spiritual umbilical cord's and to achieve proper nourishment from this cord, read the Holy Bible and pray. I think I'm going to like my heart shaped belly button in Heaven! Juanita, God delights in your thoughts. Thanks for sharing them with us! |

You all give me such love. Thank you! I came home after working late and trying to get my dogs settled with their food, heat up leftovers and grab my laptop just for refreshing time with mychurch. You all bless me. I love you all so! Preston, isn't is way cool to know a voice? It isn't possible to do more than a phone call now and then for most of us but it makes it very special. I got to meet Mike and talk to several people on here. It is delightful. Love you. Thank you Lord! |

This is sort of out there but.....
I kept my daughter's umbilical cord's. Sentimental, you know. That lifeline. So do you have an innie or an outie? We have innie's.
Sorry if that is too personal, Juanita, but YOU brought it up!!!!! |

innie, Joey, innie...kept them in what? lol, that is sorta out there, dahlink. My son planted a tree in a hole over his kids afterbirth, some hippie ritual I think. The kids know which tree is theirs. I took a picture of them under their trees last year and put them in a frame that held three pictures ffor their mom for Mother's Day. |

I ain't no hippy. I wanted to one so I could have some stickers, but I was too young. Later, I found out it wasn't what I thought was all about. I liked those cool clothes too.
I kept them in my Jewelery box. Finally, they got so old and shriveled up, I couldn't tell the difference between the two of them, and besides there were pretty ugly. I was going to give them to the girls, but I thought they might think I was was weird or somethin.
The doctors wouldn't let me have their afterbirth. How did your son get to keep his kids? That would really be cool! I could have kept it in a jar! |

apparently they have the request for the afterbirth quite often, and the tree is planted on top of it....i would have never occured to me. in hawaiaan cultures it is supposed to be done and the tree grows along side the child i am drawn to many hippie clothes...but like to be clean and despise drugs reading wikipedia...seeing what it looks like...nope not in a jar silly girl |
