WOW.!  I am fight this right now.  The devil has slipped in my spirit and today I'm angry.  The house is on the market today, I'm so ready to move on after it sells.  But there is some anger, I thought I had my whole Armor on and my prayer warriors in place for this part of my journey.
There is still a gap in my armor, a weakness in my defenses. But God has made up for it with the assistance he’s sent. God is faithful, and worthy of our trust! And even as I continue to recover from deep wounds, I am thankful, and able to give him praise.

But what if we’re attacked from behind? It seems we’ve got nothing covering our backs!

This is so true. Betrayal comes from the back. Here we are walking ahead with God, not knowing that someone in our home is stabbing us in the back. That's when God starts to fight. Attacking from the back is devilish. Tell a person to his face you don't like him, don't pretent to like him and then stab his back. I believe God shows up for His servants who are attacked from the back. It's so embarrassing sometimes, to testify about how wonderful this/that is, but come to find out, this/that has been deceiving. But praise God! He fights for us. He loves us.

The battle is not ours, it's the Lord's..  We have to understand that whatever we are faced with because of our beliefs and our trust in the one true God, we will always be faced with trials, heartaches in this life... God always has our backs no matter what may come our way.  We, we have to believe and continually trust that He will stand with us, fight to the very end and know that He will win...  That is what we have to hold on to no matter what.  I BELIEVE AND TRUST IN HIS WORD no matter what the devil throws.  He will continue to try and wear us down and that is when I cry out to my Father.  He hears and He comes to my rescue.

My part is to stand and continue to do as He asks.  It is hard and heartbreaking sometimes but I will continue to stand.  The battle is not mine, it is the Lord's...

Yes Marcella, this site can be a support for folks suffering an ambush from the enemy through friends and family, particularly through prayer and comment. The most effective support, however, comes from brothers/sisters in Christ who live nearby, who can hold your hand, look you in the eye as they listen to you, pray with/for you in person, visit with you, etc. You have been a faithful friend Marcella, I love that about you!

Dear Brother and Fellow WarriorofTheLord,  Mike~
Our Brother Steve Hammered it when he said 'YOU HAMMERED IT'.  And talking about Hammers,  there is a Latin word that means Hammer, it is
'malleus', it ends with the letters 'us', that's US!  We Hammer satan and more than Hammer him with the 'HAMMER OF GOD"  by taking on the Armor spoken of in The Book of Romans. This Armor will even ultimately Protect our Backs. This Armor Surrounds and Covers Us....................................................  Completely...Completely. I speak of the 'ARMOR OF LIGHT!      FORWARD MARCH!
   Romans 13:12
"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."

Thanks Steve, the trick is to write about what you're experiencing...you know it too!

Thanks Shelley!!

Marcia, lovely sentiments, thank you!! And yes it is important for us to know that we are not alone in this walk!!

Terry, me (us) too! For the record, you appear to be holding up quite well under the attack, you must have a great support network! Anger is understandable in your case, and when it doesn't show, friends must conclude that you have an inner strength that overcomes the expected human response to your situation. And it's call Jesus Christ!

Thanks Ken, your words are appreciated!

Mary, the battle is indeed the Lord's! Yet we find that we still need to make choices. Such as, "do I answer that email", "should we visit and explain our side", "should we take legal action", etc. Allowing the Lord to fight the battle might mean being patient, not answering every volley with a counter-volley. It might mean refusing to allow bitterness and resentment to characterize what little conversation does take place. It might also mean establishing healthy boundaries, keeping certain influences at bay, protecting the relationships that are still intact. You are indeed one of those fellow soldiers/medics, whose heart is filled w/Christ, and ready to support your brethren. God bless you sister!!

Panda, your prayers are very much appreciated! You are so faithful!

Destiny, you are so right. Betrayal is devilish, as is "friendly fire". BOTH stem from the enemy's deceit. And both hurt an awful lot. It's hard, but in order to fend off bitterness and maintain an attitude of love, we must remember the real source of those hurtful words/deeds. I assume you have experienced this, and if so, I'm sorry!

I hear you Mike and I do ask, answer the e-mail?,explain my side?, legal action?,...  But I also ask, "Lord, What now?"....  I pray, Please let me know that this is a word from you and not MY will.  HARD is not the appropriate word sometimes to explain the delimnasIsic) we find ourselves in but knowing in my heart that I have done all I can and have asked my Father for guidance gives me peace.

Love you

Ummm, maybe I'm wrong Mike, but the reason there's nothing to cover our backs - is because we're not supposed to run away from stuff, but to confront them?

Mike, A most indepth, heart piercing, soul stirring blog. Indeed the Devil looks for the holds in our defenses. I am reminded to put on the"full armor" of God. I think some folks just pick up a piece or two with the illusion that they can handle things themselves...Jesus said that without Him we could do nothing...I mean nothing...Thanks for sharing and know that I am one of your friends who does care and prays for you and yours each day...Pastor Chuck

Thx Maureen

Stevie, basically in the language of the analogy, if you are facing the enemy, you aren't expecting soldiers on your own side to ram swords into your back. This happens, and it's difficult to recollect yourself and promptly face them. BTW, sometimes it is best to flee (e.g. Joseph and Potiphar's wife, Gen 39:7-12), though that isn't the situation I was alluding to in the blog. Thanks for your input!

Pastor Chuck, thanks...you and your prayers are most appreciated! Fellow soldiers such as yourself give much strength to others around you fighting in the spiritual "trenches" everyday. I just hope you too have support. You never know when an ambush is waiting....

There is an old saying, that the Christian army is the only army that shoots it's own wounded.  I have been wounded many times from behind, but I think of this verse Isa 52:12 " But you will not leave in haste
       or go in flight;
for the LORD will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard."
God has got my back as long as I don't turn tail and run!  LOL...but seriously, that's why we need to protect each other's back side.  I love that saying, "I've got your back."  For indeed that is a wonderful benefit of having fellow co-workers to battle right along side of us.

Mike! Or what about when we turn around???
I went to an awesome Hip Hop church in LA and they were talking about this very subject. They talked about Cesar Milan the Dog whisperer and compared the Bad dogs with the Enemy. If you show your calm assertive energy the most vicious of animals will submit to your authority. It was called Relentless cant stop a man on a mission. Even when nipped in the Butt by the Enemy we have to come back harder and stronger....
God didnt give us a Butt Guard of Fear..... So dont turn around and run.... I just remembered that when I read this.... Very true BTW....

Hey Brian, thanks for stoppin by. Hmmm, PCIs aren't painful are they?

AV Girl - interesting selection of church experiences there. We went to a church that met in a movie theatre once, no twice. And usually by the time we turn around the spear is already protruding from between our shoulder blades.

Dear Mike,
You and Laura have been in my thought and prayers for some time now.
The battle is not yours, and He will prevail.
Joey

Holy Father,
I lift up Mike and Laura to You for comfort, peace of mind and for Your blanket of love and mending of their hearts.  Father, they have been hurt deeply, and we ask that You help us to know what to do to help them right now.  They are Your children, and they need Your love to bind them and stitch them back together more tightly than before.  You know what to do.
In Jesus Holy Name I pray,
Amen

Aha!  I think I get your meaning now.  Translating.  You don't expect someone on the same side to be the one who stabs you in the back.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but am I correct?

Mike, my fellow MC's, especially you, my first friend here, definately have had my back.  I'm so thankful to GOD for you and for everyone else.  As you know, my family has been so horrible toward me, all my life, but most especially since my daddy's funeral.  Here, I have found comfort, grace, peace, compassion and agape love.  Wow, technology does have it's finer points afterall!  Usually, I'd like to drop kick my computer, television and phones into the nearest river...which is only about 100 feet away from me.  Fortunately, I have MC to remind me that it is good to have contact with my fellow Christians!!!  LOVE YOU AND EVERYONE AT MC!!!

The war wages on, even as we sleep. Satan is well prepared with sneak attacks and who better to use than those closest to us, our loved ones, for they inflict the most pain. However, once that ace in the hole has been played, satan has very little ammo left in his arsenal. We bring much glory to God when we persevere, and we will. You will, Mike. You will.

Hey Mike, good blog!  God has been healing me also of many deep wounds...presumably dealt me by those on my team...those closest to me.  However, God clearly says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of darkness (a.k.a. demons).  I've come to realize that demons sometimes manifest themselves through other folks, even Christians.  God says we have the power to bind and loose.  So, in the name of Jesus, we bind the powers of darkness and loose the glory of the Most High God!!!  Amen?  Yeah!  Admittedly, it's hard to separate the faces of our loved ones from the demonic powers that influence them to hurt us.  It takes some time to heal.  Yet Jesus gave it all so we could be healed, and that is simply MARVELOUS!  May God's healing go deep and be accelerated so you can begin to walk in abundance and joy!!!
