| Sow in tears if I have to |
|
| |
126:5 Those who sow in tears, will reap with songs of joy.
The psalmist recognized that some of us will sow in tears. Tears denote sorrow and pain. The sowing denotes planting that which will later bear fruit, i.e. sowing righteousness in obedience to God. The sowing is followed by reaping, which indicates there is purpose in the tears.
Life can be painful, sometimes excruciating. And contrary to the claims of some, I don’t always see God extracting his people from these times of difficulty. In fact, according to the psalmist, it was those who persevered through the pain that could look forward to promised rewards. Not only joy, but a bountiful harvest for their hard labor too.
I deny both reality and the experiences of God’s people throughout history if I claim that all we need is enough faith to make all our troubles go away. I also deny God’s purposes when I see sorrow and pain as pointless defeat.
We have an opportunity to demonstrate to everyone watching us that we serve a great God when we persevere through trials, difficulties, hardships, and heartaches. In fact, the greater the hardship, the bigger our statement for God, if we persevere. By doing so, we show that our God and Savior is greater than anything we could ever face in this lifetime. We believe that, don’t we? Can’t we see the testimony for our Savior in that?
Given the words of the psalmist, it may be best not to expect God to miraculously deliver us. I ask, but I don’t expect. That’s not to say God can’t, or even that he won’t. I simply acknowledge that his purposes are higher than mine, thanking him for the opportunity to deny my will, and looking forward to the eventual fulfillment of his promises, in his time. In the meantime, I will continue to sow. And I'll sow in tears if I have to, but make no mistake, I will continue to sow.

That kinda lines up with what I just posted about the martyrs and that God tells them to rest until the number of those who will be killed like they are is complete. So...they are not yet dead but will be killed...to complete a specific number...and God knows it but doesn't intervene. Revelations 6:11 We have to trust and know that we will not know all the reasons here. |

13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. Amen Juanita. Trust is the name of the game. Trust does not demand sight, or it wouldn't be trust. God bless you sister! |

[star!] | I do believe that a broken and contrite heart, He can not despise (resist). The Psalmist (David) wrote that in 51:17. I believe it. Until we are broken (shedding much tears in the process) our will sometimes stand in the way of His. Other times when we are sadden, God is moved by His love for us. Jesus wept for Mary because of her broken heart. I am sure He didn't weep for Lazarus because Lazarus was surely going to be in heaven once Jesus rose. |

| Anthony, I don't believe for a second that God despises any heart that is broken and contrite before him. But I also don't think that means he will necessarily end all suffering. God has his purposes... |

I agree. It is a testiment if we can praise God when time are hard, because anybody can praise Him when times are good. Sorta like what God showed satan with Job. To me, to have God point me out like that would be so awesome, Job's witness is forever and oh, how God was proud of him. I always hope to be like Job so as to make God proud of me. |

I needed this too. I know my tears are not in vain. I've cried enough this past year that I should reap 10,000 Joys or more. TO GOD BE THE GLORY. (I know I'm not finished crying)
it was those who persevered through the pain that could look forward to promised rewards. Not only joy, but a bountiful harvest for their hard labor too. BIG BIG AMEN.! |

| Leigh - sweet comment! I've had this verse in my deck of memory cards for a year now, only more recently it has come to mean much more to me. I'm glad this struck a chord w/you! I'm glad you are sowing too, and hope it is w/o tears, the easy way! (But probably more profitable w/the tears!) |

| Terry, I know you've shed a few tears. I'm sorry about that, my heart has been going out to you for a while now. Like I wrote in the blog, hard roads are BIG opportunities for us to share Christ in meaningful ways. Boy, talk about testing one's devotion! Keep standing tall sister, your testimony is really growing!! |

Yvelisse, thanks sister!
Jade, hang in there sister. I'll be talk to you.
Anthony, great words about Job's witness. There's a man respected by a great many non-Christians, virtually everyone who's familiar w/him has deep respect. That is one of the strongest witnesses in all of scripture. And how did he get that way? By SUFFERING!! (in other words, be careful what you promise to God!)

Penny (JoyfulServant)- thanks, and yes he is! You know about sowing through hardship. God bless you sister.
Deb, I am SO GLAD you see the hope in this. I pray that EVERY ONE of my blogs conveys that hope. It is always with me, no matter how down I get, no matter how persecuted. If my blogs didn't have hope for the reader, I would have to seriously ask, why am I bothering to write anything at all? Thanks for your encouraging comment, it is deeply appreciated. |

[star!] | That's a good word, right there, Mike. I can remember whole fields planted that never needed watered after I sowed,... hehe. We can also look forward too: Rev 21:3. Then I heard a mighty voice from the throne and I perceived its distinct words, saying, See! The abode of God is with men, and He will live (encamp, tent) among them; and they shall be His people, and God shall personally be with them and be their God. 4. God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;... Amen? Thanks. I Love You. |

[star!] | This is one of my favorite scriptures Mike that the Lord inprinted on my heart about 25 years ago, and it still sticks with me to this day.....I know about this type of sowing all to well....I am WHO I am today because of those tears....and even yet.....I still cry................... |

MarJay, I'll bet when you share with ppl about the cause of those tears, it gives them an added appreciation for your Lord and Savior, considering your perseverance in spite of them (or maybe b/c of them). We like who you are, the Lord has used many things (incl those tears) to shape you!

| Mike, there is just one thing I would like to say and I will try to be rational about it. You, my friend, are rattling the gates of hell and shaking the devil to the core. Revealing the truth in love as Jesus would have you to do, is being the strong man marching forcefully against satan and taking by force that which God has appointed for you to do! Big Amen, and amen. |

| Coreena, I'm so sorry for your pain sister. Wish there was something I could do. Yes, I can see that this verse would be very meaningful to you too. Along with God's promise that after the tearful sowing comes joyful reaping, I meant to add that "weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." God doesn't promise there will be no tears, or that tears will magically end the moment our faith reaches a certain level. But he DOES promise to be with us THROUGH the tears, even giving us what we need to get through them. It HURTS. But we must trust. In my own situation, I've seen God provide just the right things at just the right times to keep us going. Somehow I'm sure he's doing that for you too sister. Much love, and I pray his joy and strength carry you. God bless~ |

"Given the words of the psalmist, it may be best not to expect God to miraculously deliver us. I ask, but I don’t expect. That’s not to say God can’t, or even that he won’t. I simply acknowledge that his purposes are higher than mine, thanking him for the opportunity to deny my will, and looking forward to the eventual fulfillment of his promises, in his time." When we fail to see this point we can easily become frustrated with God and our circumstances, it is important to focus on His will even in our dark times. Thanks for the reminder my friend. Sowing in His Peace even in tears! |

[star!] | He never said it would be easy yet He promised to be with us THROUGH IT ALL... Where would we be if everytime we called on our Father He responded by pulling us out of all the mess that we tend to get into. Jesus went through a lot more than we ever will in our lifetime and He knows what we go through. He promised to be there to help us perservere and through that perserveance there are valuable lessons to be learned. As long as I know He is standing right there with me keeping me on the Narrow Road I am content. I also will continue to sow in my Fathers name.
