Today's scripture passage comes from the END of the gospel according to Luke.  Jesus has spent His entire ministry with the twelve apostles, teaching them from the scriptures and explaining several times to them about how he would have to be betrayed into the hands of evil men and be crucified and on the third day rise again.  You would think that they would have "got it" by now! 

I can't be too hard on the apostles; I think of how many times God has had to teach me a lesson before I "get it."  My wife, my parents, my mentors all have taught me things that just didn't "click" the first hundred times!  This makes me really appreciate God's great patience with us.  God tenaciously refuses to give up and teaches us the lesson one more time.
