15:1A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. I love this entire chapter because of its value in limiting what to do in situations. When we limit our responses to controversy, then we are not controlled by those of a hindering spirit. Trying to memorize this chapter to use against people is not my point, but rather, I use this chapter to teach myself how to respond to others who can challenge my walk with God. Another example: Job didn't speak with his friends for 7 days, yet they sat by his side during his time of fasting and then challenged him. 15:28The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. It's always better to go find the answer for someone rather than make one up. We never want to portray God as the author of confusion because He is not, we do pretty good to mess things up for ourselves because our emotions can run our mouth real well if we allow it. Remember, we are to be Ambassadors, this means it is God's way and not ours...how awesome is God's wisdom for us as His children? This doesn't mean we should not and can not rebuke those in most needs. I am pressed to believe this has to deal with the unwilling, undisciplined, and unbelieving spirit's that will rise up and attempt to do make us do something foolish as a reaction. Jesus demonstrated complete silence and it marveled Pilot at His "trial" even falsely accused! Dear God, plant the Word of truth in us to be obedient just as You demonstrated in the flesh two centuries ago, Amen!
