| Tree Frogs, Fireflies, & Slugs |

Isn't it funny how you can find a God lesson in just about anything in life, if you look close enough. It has been really rainy here lately, and the three things that come out during the rainier seasons in the deep pine wooded areas of the Carolina's are Tree Frogs, Fireflies, and Slugs. 13:3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. Slugs, well when you see one of those you just say well... ugh. They are slimy, slow and just plain gross. They leave a slim where ever they travel. They also make your jack-o-lanterns look quite odd after eating on them for a while. Furthermore, if you have ever stepped on one barefoot in the garden, EWWW.... Wikipedia says: Slugs can damage stems, roots and slither up plants causing much damage. It borrows in the soil to feed on root crops. They can truly do a lot of damage to your plants.
Isn't this how some of us slug Christians are? We are judgemental, leaving a trail of slimy damage towards other non-believers leaving a trail of hardened hearts. We preach one thing out of the same mouth that we curse others with, or just plain curse. We tell others how to live, and choose not to live in the same manner. 13:4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Fireflies, oh what a joy when you can see fireflies out at night dancing in the moonlight. They lift your spirit, make you smile and you are constantly looking for where they might dance once again. Wikipedia says: Firefly light is usually intermittent, and flashes in patterns that are unique to each species. Each blinking pattern is an optical signal that helps fireflies find potential mates. Scientists are not sure how the insects regulate this process to turn their lights on and off. Firefly light may also serve as a defense mechanism that flashes a clear warning of the insect's unappetizing taste. Average lifespan in the wild: About 2 months
Firefly Christians really let their lights shine. They are bright and loud. Yes they attract others quickly but you can only see their light for a moment or it doesn't shine for very long. If only a firefly christian could keep its light shining but only for a moment, but they can't because it takes work to fight off the enemy. 13:5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, 13:6 but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away. 13:7 Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Oh how I have loved falling asleep to the chirping of the tree frogs. They lull me to sleep with their melodies, and it is quit comforting compared to in the city where you hear sirens and other noise. (Although I do miss the city terribly) Wikipedia says: As the name implies, these frogs are typically found in very tall trees or other high-growing vegetation. The back color of tree frogs is typically a vivid green, uniformly so in many species, subtly patterned in others, altogether giving an excellent camouflage depending on the particular kind of vegetation they inhabit and the predators they have to hide from. Many tree frogs can change their color to a remarkable extent, and thus when resting on bark they are usually brownish grey.
Isn't a tree frog typical of a strong Christian walk. Tree frog Christians are found up with the eagles absorbing high vegetative manna. They are bright in Color, Ora, and Spirit, but each one has their own distinct identity. They fight off the enemy with the full armour of God. But when they make a joyous noise, they sing beautifully about the Lord from the treetops. They convict others with love, show love, and just give you peace when you are around them. 13:8 Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Lord, help me to be a Tree Frog Christian, and when I am a Firefly please draw me nearer to you as I flee from the Evil One. Oh but Lord, please just keep me from being a slug. I never want to be a slug in someone else's life. |

[star!] | You're a Tree Frog Becky - because I've witnessed what's inside through the conversations we've had. And yes there's a lesson in everything if we'd just open our eyes and look around us. But on the funny side, please don't croak it. :o) |
