This passage is a direct hit on the target of hard times. Regardless of how well off or how poor we are, our true riches are centered in our own integrity and faith. From the poorest of the poor in places like Haiti or Zimbabwe to the poor at our own door step, we all should 'walk by faith and not by site". In this age we have one one comedian said yesterday, "billionairs who have lost their fortunes and are killing themselves, just because they don't want to be like us!". I would hope that rich or poor our focus can be on the light of faith that God gives for our next footsteps, despite the darkness of the gloom that tries to cover our lives. 19:1 Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a man who is perverse in speech, and is a fool. |
