Psalm 34:8 Taste and See that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge/trusts in him.
The Lord reminded me of this verse that I learned as a child this morning. It makes me think about when I cook something and ask my husband to taste it. Sometimes he makes faces even before tasting it and out comes the phrase, "just taste it." My husband should be a food critic. He can eat something and tell you what is in it and what would make it better. Many of us approach life and the Head Chef this way. We think we can tell God exactly what is going on and what will make life better. But this verse says, "Just taste" "Taste and SEE that the Lord is good." If we will just taste we will understand the word "good" in a whole new light.
I love the second part too. "Blessed is the man who takes refuge/trust in him." Once you have tasted you will see and it is unfathomable how one could not take refuge/trust in him. I used to wonder for years, "What do you want me to do with my life Lord? What do you want me to be?" One day I heard someone say that what God wants me to do and be is written in His Word, I don't have to "find" it. I couldn't believe it! Right there in front of my face all along! If I would just taste, see and take refuge in Him, HE would direct my steps/paths to where He wanted me. and when a crossroads comes He is there to guide me still.
