| Is the glass half full or half empty? |
|
| |
Ephesians 4:13; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Most people would argue that a glass half full or half empty is the same thing but this theory doesn't hold water. (I made a funny!) Let us perform an experiment using 2 glasses of the same type and of the same size. Fill one glass with water halfway and then fill the other glass to the brim. One glass is half full and the other one is full. Now take the full glass and pour out half of the water. Now one glass is half full and the other is now half empty. So you see there is a major difference between a glass being half full and another glass being half empty. The half full glass has the capacity to be filled. The half empty glass reached its full potential but poured out half of what it was capable of holding.
I think you already know where this is going. This speaks of believers with the same amount of potential although one has yet to be filled and the other was filled but pours so much of himself into what he does that if he continues at the rate he is going he will be empty by the time the other believer is filled. Very few people in the church are operating in the capacity that they have been given according to their measure of faith. Not everyone will operate at the same capacity as some are 30 fold, some are 60 fold, and others are 100 fold but they can operate in the fullness of that measure that they do have . If you are a 30 fold believer you should be operating at the full 30 and not 29 or 28 and definitely not at 10 percent. Mark 4:20; And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive [it], and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. You see brethren, if we are not bearing fruit then it doesn't matter what your capacity is. Great capacity with no fruit equals no power. You do the math. Much of the misconception with capacity and potential is due to fear and demonstrates varying levels of insecurity or laziness or both. Fear will stem from doubt and is a by-product of sin. Just imagine what you may have accomplished if you had excercised your full potential. That's potential with a capital "P"! What happened to you that was so bad that caused you to be so insecure and so lazy? You know what I'm talking about. Laziness and insecurity are by-products of fear. All of these things are tied into each other and once the pattern begins there is a chain reaction that occurs that will snowball out of control until you are right where you are right now, feeling empty and useless.
Did you confess you sins? Did you give your life to Christ? Are you a child of God? If you confessed your sins then you are forgiven. If you gave your life to Christ then you are no longer your own. If you are a child of God then you should look like one and walk like one and talk like one. What happened? You are not even close to what you should be. There is no power shortage in heaven or on the earth. Romans 12:3; For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. You shouldn't think of yourself more highly than you ought to but you should think of yourself highly. You are not just any old thing. You are redeemed which means that you were bought with a great price. Start to live like you have great value.
Now let's do another experiment. Take two glasses of different sizes and fill them both to the brim. Which one is more full? Is it the bigger glass or is it the smaller glass? Wrong, if they are both full they are full regardless of their size. One cannot be more full than the other because they are both filled to capacity. That is where we need to be. Filled to overflowing. Why settle for a mediocre wishy-washy half-baked complacent walk in Christ when you could be walking in the fulness of Christ where people will see the Christ in you more than they see the person you try not to be. Don't settle for second best when you can have the best that God has to offer you. You don't need anyone to tell you what you have to do because apart from God no one knows you better than yourself.
Be all that you can be in God's army! Stand at attention, salute but don't do an about face! Now march! God bless you and Shalom! |

| Hi Prophet Jay. I've often said that with some people, they have yet to tap into to what God has in store for them. Therefore never reach their full potential. And there are some people, that when they tap into it, they can't contain it. Therefore they have to give it away - so that God can give them more. So my analogy is this. We can't take with us what was meant to be spent on earth. So live full, but die empty. And as for your analogy of the glass being half full - to being half empty? Each has been given a measure according to their faith. Whether they use it or not - is up to them. We've all been given a job to do, so let's do it. And believe it or not, there's some messy jobs out there, but somebody's got to do it. Or as I've often said to people from time-to-time, don't wait for all the traffic lights to be on green before you set off and do what God has called you to do, because it may never happen. The greatest achievements in life are when all the traffic lights are on red. |

[star!] | Amen, God bless you for helping me to start my day. I workout and I am very sore right now, quads, biceps abs lats all sore to the touch. The first week back since my surgery on 4-22, and praise God for using a doc to answer my prayers. I am working out spiritually first thing though, and I am sore from resisting sin, and putting Truth into my mind i.e. memorizing Scrips, but it's a much better sore than the physical one. God does give us wisdom to live up to our potential and beyond it, and I have found that the more I let Him lead me into Truth, the more I grow and see things for what they really are. It is amazing that I can really see what is going on and you have inspired me PJ, thank you for being faithful brother, God prosper you in every area of your life. Shalom |

[star!] | I sure learned a lot on this one. I always thought a glass to be half full. Hmm!!! My pastor was talking about this Thursday at bible and how the church isn't operating in its full potential. I am confused about what I should be doing. I am also afraid to step out and try on my own. I've always been the sort of backward person and feel like I will fail. My husband says I will only if I try on my own. If I knew what I am suppose to do, I would have confidence |

Well Crystal you are supposed to be teaching. That is your calling. About those fears and insecurities remember what it says in 2 Corinthinas 5:17; 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man (or woman) be in Christ, he (she) is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Passed away as in done away with, dead and buried. ALL things are become new. You are not the same person you were back then. Those old fears have you paralyzed. Get up take up your bed and walk, in the name of Jesus, amen. |

| I sure wasn't wanting to hear that. However I know you speak what you are told and then it's up to me. I think I am throwing out the fleece. I don't know much about the word to teach it. I always thought that was my husbands job, and like a good girl, I was to support him. I know Moses said he couldn't, along with many others. |

O Lordy . You are hitting me every which way but loose. I have done childrens ministry with my husband and I love the youth. As a matter of fact , Pastor Chuck has blessed me by using some of my blogs for his childrens sermons. I can do all things through Christ Jesus which strengthens me. I need to tell myself more often. Thank you for helping me. I need to move forward and get out of this rut I've put myself in. |
